Does the GameMatch server even exist anymore?

Whenever I try to connect to the Gamematch server it fails. Does the Gamematch server even exist or is the IP multiplayer hosting the only way to get games going?

:kilroy:Gamemaster406, the M$ GameMatch server was shut down in 2007 (October/November, I think).

If you look at the sticky threads above, there are a number of guys hosting and joining IP-to-IP games. You may want to check that out.

All you have to do to join a game is type the IP address in the post of your choice into CFS3. However, hosting an IP game is a bit more involved. It requires you to open your router ports (port forwarding).

If you are using Windows XP, there is no problem whatsoever in playing IP games.

If you are using Vista, simply do what it says to do in Post #1 in this sticky thread: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=9007

Also, if you are using XP and not Vista, then you may also be interested in GameRanger, which is available at www.gameranger.com. It's not a server, but rather, a program that allows you to host or join games with others who also have GR. It doesn't require port forwarding.

I hope this helps.:d

Thank you, I sorta figured that the GameMatch servers were closed. Hmm... I wish Microsoft could have them reopened, I have older games that still have multiplayer service.

I also did everything in that article because I have vista so hopefully I can join some IP games. :jump::applause:
