Nacht, i would happily pay for any of your projects and especially if it helps SOH,count me in!

I've seen pictures of them with rockets under the wing and references to them carrying bombs for night intruder missions.

I'd spend the $10 for one.

It looks like the SCR-720 used an Orange CRT.

I would have preferred to have the target indicators be the more accurate light yellow-green, but the way CFS3 combines the color of the display and the pips makes that impossible.

Maybe the electric glow around the edges is impossible to recreate, but I do believe the blip can be any colour you like. With a colour picker you can get the colour of the blip and some even tell you what the RGB value is in hex. If not, there are always converters to be found for that.

BTW, looks fine Major! But why not give the display a little more depth by adding the shadow of the lines and numbers on the display, like the picture you posted above?
If you copy the layer(s) with those lines and numbers, blur them just enough (the numbers more - their shadows appear as 'smudges'), move it a little to the bottom right (to use the same 'light source' as on the display's edge) and play with the layer(s) opacity, I think it would look a little more lively... You can even add some glow to the orange of the display to simulate glass...

Ted

Would gladly contribute, you had not to ask.
I just have a concern though. Last time I contributed for SOH using Paypal I had my credit card cloned. It would be swell if there could be another way to make the money arrive to the model's maker.

Cheers

Believe me I tried. CFS3 takes the color of the tactical display and combines it with the color of the pip in a way that always darkens it significantly. For example this orange background (60% brightness), and a light yellow pip (100% brightness) showed up in the game as very dark green (20% brightness). There's no way that I found to create a pip that shows up as lighter than the background.

I had an earlier version that had most of the shadow effects you suggest and scrapped it as just being a confused mess to look at. It's hard to see in the screen shot, but this one has light/dark scan lines running across the screen behind the reticle. I'll take another look at the whole thing when we actually have a P-61 to use it with.

Radar

One thing I would like to see in the radar is a better way to judge elevation. The blips can be coded to change color depending on how far they are away from the attacking plane. It would be great if you could change the intensity of the blips so that as you get closer they become brighter or change color. Notice that with the stock scope at about 3000 meters the blips turn gray and when the target is destroyed black. Also, the friends and foe feature is a way to consider this two.

Ah, there is a solution several years ago there were a few radar mods and a good deal of discussion about distance. I did some work with that to get my radar to be gray until about 500-1000 meters, which at night is still too vague. I would suggest about 150-300 meters to be a color and the rest gray of some other. This can be done and I remember green and black blips. With green being close and black further away.

If you are interested in talking about this pm me and I'll dust off the files.

Major,

This is just a quickie based on one of my old radars (and I forgot the glass reflection) but to me it doesn't seem that cluttered. But that's just my opinion.

However, about the other issue (the colouring of the radar blips) I tend agree with you; I tried to change the colours of the blips and that is no problem with the stock tactical display. But as soon as I swap that one for this newer radar texture, they all turn black, even without me touching the colour values in either of the viewUI.xml... That is strange! There may indeed be an interaction between the texture and the blips: There is also a tactical display background colour value in the viewUI.xml. To me it looks like it doesn't react much to changes but one can never know... But the observation you made in the 'damage screen'-thread regarding the colours of the labels changing too, is interesting. Maybe there is also a connection between the font colours and the pips, I don't know...

But before we totally hijack this thread, let's take it over to the 'damage screen'-thread or start a new one. The basic question was whether we wanted to pay for a shiny, new P-61...

P-61

This plane is not finished yet and will take several months to complete. I just wanted to know if there was enough interest in it and whether it was worth my time to complete it.

I'd have no problem spending money on a good model for CFS3!
more than half of the ones I've bought in the past were well,... not so good.
