is anything on donationware worth paying for?i mean ,all i see are the same planes ive seen on many cfs2 links etc.is any sbd 3 dauntless worth 5 quid when its free elsewhere.and who the hell is gunna pay 15 quid for a b17?so i ask,what do you get for your money???are these planes special,or is it some con?

Until you try the Donationware aircraft, it seems like a high price. However, the B-17 comes with 6 bases that the USAAF used in England, and the B-17 comes with the e, f, early g, and late g models. Here are some pics of the Donationware models...

Also, the proceeds help to keep this wonderful site up and running. :d
 
The donation ware aircraft are worth every penny! The B-17 package is superb in every way.....and outshine by a mile any of the freeware B-17s available. The donation ware P-51B and P-36 are equally as great....I am in love with the P-36 and am so glad I let go of 5 dollars to get it. I have not tried any of the other donation ware aircraft at this time, but will be shelling out some money for the Corsair pack, the P-40 and the Dauntless as soon as I can hold onto enough money to do so.

And when you purchase one of the donation ware aircraft, you will not only be getting a superb aircraft, you will be helping to fund the best forum on the internet for CFS1, 2, and 3, FS 2002 and 2004 and FSX....not to mention the download library which is simply a treasure trove of aircraft, scenery, sounds, skins, effects, ships, etc.

When I first fired up the d-ware B-17s and were checking them out I was impressed. When I was watching the plane taxi down the run way and saw that the tires actually flexed and bulged as the plane hit bumps...I nearly fell out of my chair!

Great planes/great forum...a double whammy for your buck!

Since AI's don't take advantage of their A/C performance....on a one to one, although outgunned and armored, I'm almost invincible in my favorite donationware. :icon_lol:
 
The donationware planes are a must! The B-17 pack, I think, if the best out there for CFS2. The Corsair pack really has no equal, the SBDs are just fantastic. The Ki-43 is also the best out there.

In the end these planes were built to help support this fantastic community. The producers make nothing off the 'sale' of these planes. It goes right back in to the site. One of the things I love about the out house is the lack of outside adds. Donation-ware helps make this possible. I don't mind paying some cash to help this place out

Granted I know it sounds alittle crazy to 'buy' planes, especialy for an 8 year old sim. But lets just discect these FDG2 packs to see what you get.

P-36A $5.00, one model of a P-36A and three skins. You won't find a P-36A of it's equal out there.

F4F Wildcat pack $5.00. an F4F-3 and F4F-4 model with various skins for them. Very highly detailed model. True there are 'Stock' coversions for these same types, but I think FdG2 really captured the true form of the Wildcat, even with the windsheild detail error.

FDG2 Corsair Pack $15. A steeply priced pack, but lets see, you get the F4U-1, F4U-1A, F4U-1C, F4U-1D, F4U-2, F4U-4, and F4U-4B. Thats 7 variants. Fantastic VCs, and Multible skins. That roughly traslates to $2.15 per Corsair type. True there are alot of freware Corsairs outhere. But none I think stand up to this pack, and if you fly FS9, its a steal compared to other payware packs out there.

SBD Dauntless $10. You get a SBD-2, and a SBD-5. Fantastic VC, great skins, and a nice sound pack. You won't find a comparable free-ware example out there.

Ki-43 $5.00. You get a Ki-43IIb, and five skins. There is not a comparable up to date Ki-43 out there in freeware for CFS2.

P-40E $5.00. You get the P-40E type with multiple skins. Great VC, and sounds. I will admit, there are freeware types out there just as good. But Its still a fantastically modled Warhawk.

P-51B $5.00. You get a standard P-51B with afew skins. There is not a more up todate CFS2 built model out. FDG2 also released their P-51C malcome canopy version as freeware.

B-17 $15.00. The second high priced pack, but oh soo worth it! You get a B-17E, B-17F early and Late, and a B-17G early and Late. Multiple skins. Fantastic VC. Custom airfields, and a sound pack that is as good as listening to any Symphony. The detail is astounding, and well worth the money.


Now if I were being picky. I'd pick up the F4U, and B-17 pack right off the bat. They are the best. But in the end I'd recomend them all., and again the money goes right back to helping out the house.

The other great thing about the donationware birds is that most of them have a number of repaints available

I bought the P-36 and got an RAF Mowhawk and a French and a Dutch Hawk 75 for free.

The Wildcat and the B-17 seem to have been especially inspiring for our artistic friends.

I just bought the B17, just waiting for the delivery. Payware is ok by me as long as the asking price isnt blown out of this world.
I would build pay addons again, and I might too. but the priceing has to be fair for what you get.

Cant wait to bomb my buddies base...lol!
