What would ya do if ya had a video card that carries a life time replacement warranty but the company feeds ya a line of BS to get out of replacing the bad card. In 2006 I brought that 8800GTX for a tad bit over 600.00. Well when I did this rebuild the card went to video haven. I had already planed on replacing it anyway cause it has served me well. Well because of the type business I am in I always file the necessary warranty paper work. Anyway while I was over at Guru3d forum I noticed a thread about the Evga warranty where a member said they wouldn't honor the lifetime warranty because they found the blower had dust and some blockage in the air flow. I said damn Mike, I think that top dog card has a life time warranty too. I looked up and found sure enough it did. I said what the heck, I went to there site and pulled up my account but it wasn't listed. I know I had filed it so I called Evga up and after being on hold for thirty minutes a CS employee started helping me. He said the serial number was assigned to someone else. There ain't no way. BTW I also emailed them the invoice from 06 where I had brought it from Newegg. Well all of a sudden I got disconnected. I waited for a while to see if they would return the call but that never happened. Again I called and yeah again I was on hold .....but this time it was only 27 minutes. After explaining again what was going on that employee said I needed to talk to someone in level 2 support. So again I am on hold for another 45 minutes. BTW...I started this at 4:00pm EST. at 6:15pm EST the level 2 tech gets on the phone and does some research and says he found the four other cards that DON'T carry a lifetime warranty but the one that does carry a Lifetime warranty they can't find where I filed it. I asked the guy well what do we do now. His response was yup you guessed it.....I is chet out of luck because if I didn't file it I only had a one year warranty. What I really don't understand they should be going by that serial number and the purchase ticket only. What did they think I got it out of somebodies trash can. Well the Evga card I ordered Thursday came in today. I am thinking of RMAing it because this one cost me 658.00 and if there is no warranty why bother to keep it. I hear the BFG warranty is better and they also honor there products. I hate to do this to Newegg because I have spent well over 25 grand with them and they have always been great to deal with. Even when there warranty has expired they still take care of the customer first. Would you guys spend this kind of money on a piece of hardware with no warranty?I am thinking of shipping it back because of this. Newegg has already said they will give me a full refund.

Evga = liars

I neverNEVER purchase anything based on REBATES or LIFETIME Warranties. All of which I find to be Fraud to sell the product. I base my purchasing decisions on does it work and is it what I want, can I afford it. DONE

Sorry Moe the B*stards got you. Return the other one if you like you can get GTX 295 cards in other flavors as well. Right now MSI and BFG have their versions out. I don't know how good they are and I was looking at a Zotac but they are not listing a GTX 295 at the moment.

Feel free to leave feed back on Neweggs site about your displeasure you are having. I am starting to see manufactures leaving replies to negative comments. Many people who purchase from new egg read those reviews to help them decide what to do. In your position you should be able to leave a very elegant feed back that gets their attention. I learned that from Ickie and the BB Gun incident.

Moe, get ahold of NewEgg and tell them what's going on with EVGA's "lifetime warranty" for that 8800GTX. You have proof and all the paperwork saved. Maybe they can help but if not, they might get on EVGA's case or drop their products because of false representation of a warranty. To me they're committing fraud to get you to buy a product. At least it's worth looking into. If it was me I'd be at their front door with a pitchfork.... $658.00 is 2/3s of my mortgage and if I lost that, God help me.

Moe,

Ask the tech person on the phone to escalate the issue until they honor your "lifetime" warranty. I've been told before by some vendors that "lifetime" means the lifetime of the product and when it quits the "lifetime" warranty dies also!!!

What video card would they replace your dead card with? Or is it a straight up replacement warranty?

Go get 'em!!

Kevin

Moe, don't take it lying down. Do like Ickie did with BB... fight the bastages. :friday:

Well I let them know how I felt about what was going on...lol...ya wanna see how mad I can get >> https://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=100598336&mpage=1&key=&#100598625 It isn't about the 658 bucks...it was how it was handle and just about being called a bold face liar. Evga makes good video cards, but I think they need some employee training. I have already replaced the card with another Evga card. I also have a BFG 260 that I brought to get me by. I am pretty sure what I am going through we have all been there one time or another. I'm just blowing off steam and ranting to you guys cus y'all take the edge off of things :woot:.. I need to sick Ickie on them.Mike

Well, what did EVGATech_JacobF have to say? Looks like you pushed the right button after all Moe. :d

Moe,

Looks like you got their attention rather quickly!!!!........:woot:

Sounds like a purchaser needs to send in the warranty registration card within one month of purchase. Most people don't send them certified mail to have proof of delivery. USPS has lost several important items for me over the years.....

Let us know how it works out.

Kevin

Well Mr. Freeman sent me a email and I sent him the invoice and the proper documents. Let's see where they take it too. They jump me in there and thought I was just some drive by complainer but I went back and tried to straighten that part out...lol...Like I said to them in there forum....just deposit 600 bucks in my account and I assured them I wouldn't rant or complain no mo. As far as filing the warranty form out, you do that all on line at there site which is really no biggie. It is quick and easy. They have a list of all the cards and I think a mother board that sits in my closet.....but they don't have a listing for the high dollar video card...ain't that quaint:costumes: I have seen Jacob handle problems at the Newegg forum and other forums. so I gotta give him some respect in that area, even if nothing happens at least he tried. Believe it or not I don't have this kind of a problem in the warranty area. You guys know me...I piss money away on loads of hardware and software...taking a 600 dollar hit hurts the back pocket...but all you can do is fuss a bit and hope it comes to a end.:faint:BTW...They already closed and locked the thread...wonder why.

I love the 2 responses that say,hey this is hard to read...not if you went through the 6th grade it's not. Good job, what a bunch of slackers.

heymoe, I feel your pain. A few years back I purchased a evga Geforce 5600 card from newegg.com and registered it at the time of installation. Long story short, the card died about two weeks after install. I intitialy went through newegg to replace the card, they told me to try to go through Evga's RMA service 15 emails and a week later. I ended up having to call up newegg and explain that evga isn't going to comply with their warranty policy and flat out refused to do anything about it, claiming it was user error in the installaiton that failed the card. Newegg replaced my card with a better one for free without any other questions. The new card I recieved was a xfx 5900, and I've used xfx ever since. Have never had a problem any of their products and have used the customer support when I built this new system and I had recieved a bad motherboard from newegg. Xfx priority shipped me a new motherboard within 3-days of my original inquiry.

Sometimes you get burned but other times you get lucky. Unfortunately this isn't the first time I've heard this tale of evga not honouring their warranties.

OK, it wasn't so short after all.

I know one thing.. I will not be getting an evga card, lol...

Thanks Moe for the heads up. I hope all gets sorted out. Horrible...

Bill

Well the ball is in there court. What they do with it is up to them. As far as them closing out that thread, you can kind of see the flame throwing already starting. There moderator emailed me on that part. I know I used strong words in there, but I in my type of bussiness, all they need to find out if I was telling the truth was the invoice and serial number. That serial number reads the date/month/and year that card was made. These cards cost pennies when it comes to making compared to the selling price.

I figured they close it eventually by the way the others were talking.... not from your complaint. I just hope you ain't scrod Moe. It'll be interesting to see the outcome of this.

I've never bought from EVGA and don't plan too. To me their prices are a bit overboard compaired to other gfx card makers. But then again, my pockets are usually empty..... the "Warden" makes sure of that.

Just to add a bit of balance to this thread....

I've found EVGA to be one of, if not THE best, companies to deal with when dealing with RMA goods. I've run the RMA dept. of a major computer company for a number of years and have dealt with all of the major brands eg BFG,XFX,Asus etc and have found EVGA to be among the quickest to provide an RMA# and to reimburse/replace defective products. I've returned literally hundreds of mobos and cards to these guys and have been very impressed with their work. On several occasions they've even replaced products that had obvious customer induced damage, without charge.......something I've never seen with the likes of BFG or XFX.
I hope that your issue is resolved quickly, Moe.
:ernae:

Well so far it looks like Evga has dropped the ball...lol. Jacob at first acted like he was gonna get to this ASAP.....I guess he got busy...so much for that....like I said before when it is someone else money they seem to wanna drag there feet. Talk big, so it makes the other readers look like they really take care of there customers...lol.

Well, you're proof they didn't do as they said. Not only does it hurt you Moe, but in the long run they're hurting themselves. Word spreads fast on the internet. :typing: ;)

You should go back and make a post thanking him for the help he didn't give you. ;) Then everyone there will know too.

Yeah I am thinking of making a post in there tonight.GT has got the right idea about making a post thanking him for taking care of the problem...then at then end ask him had he really planned on doing what he agreed to in the first place....kinda like buying a used card....huh we didn't say dat was covered under the used car warranty....you SOL :woot:
