'Don't Know What Made Me Think Of 1971'...

Oh, man, that brings back memories of a time when fairly well known bands played at state fairs. Yep, I remember seeing K.C. and the Sunshine Band playing the State Fair of Virginia.

They still do.... I've seen Styx, REO Speedwaon, Peter Frampton, Journey, Cindy Lauper and Meat Loaf at the fair. (Cindy opened for Meat Loaf)

This year's fair was packed because some whiny Canadian kid was there.... Justin something or the other...

Now taht brings back memories, I seen The Stampeders a number of times, the first tour they did to the East Coast was just before they hit it big, opening night in Dartmouth NS there were 26 people at the show. They played abyway and asked us to all come up front and on to the stage, it was more like a jam session in a bar. They played for over 2 hours and we had a ball, everyone of us left with a t**** and we all said these guys are going somewhere and soon... 3 weeks later Sweet City Woman hit the charts and went stright to the top, they returned on tour about a year later and the Halifax Forum was PACKED. I of course wore my Stampeders Tshirt and got backstage after the show, there were a couple others from that earlier show wearing the same **** and we partied with the boys for a couple hours, it was a blast.

I went ot work in a large Stero Record chain a coule years later and was able to see them again, didn't get the backstage visit the last time but I will say this they were very cossistant, they played the same way - "excellent" each time I saw them.
