Dora D-9

Dancat you tease! I cant wait for this new Butcher Bird now.

Your 190 A is an excellent workhorse, Ill just beat a few more combat missions out of her for the time being, add some more dents here and there until your new bird reaches my staffel.

thanks mate!
did I ever release all the a-8's??
I made the r2, 3, 6, 8 etc.
I think I sent them to the ETO team but can't remember.
alcohol does that to ya...

I love it! I hope you have a "non-Gforce moving" cockpit.

The D-9 is really an essential missing piece to the original CFS3 campaign. I could never understand why it was not included in the original sim, yet the Dornier 335 and especially the never to be used P-55 Ascender were. Odd choices made IMO.

I think the bolts were used on the pressurized pit in the TA.
with the addition of the extra glass, air gap between, I think that's where I've seen the bolts.
hard to say, I've used other peoples work as references to what I can't find real pix of.
IL2 has been one that I used but I don't think it's 100% authentic.
The Firepower Ta- 152s do have the bolts in the canopy.

On the Ta you would see some riveting from the inside but no bolts.

As I said, the bolts are only present on those replicated museum crates.

The construction for the A and D canopy is fairly simple:
A welded steel rod construction with the plexy thrown over and fixed with a thin panel that is riveted from the outside.
On the leading edge there's some rubber sealing.
Here's two scans, the first showing an early production batch D-9 (at max the first 300 produced at the Cottbus factory), the second a later production D-9 with the blown canopy.

I won't swear to it, but during all my research on the 152 H1 I made, the sealing surface on the windscreen frame appeared to be spot welded. That's from a handful of photos of the H model that was being restored at Garber.

On the mating surface of the canopy frame, the H1 has a rubber seal. After the canopy is closed, the rubber seal was expanded, using compressed air to complete the seal for high altitudes.

Of course, the D9 didn't sport that seal, using just the everyday FW seal. Gory little details.

Hey Dancat,

You recently posted the fw190 vc update in the downloads section here. The zip came with two files : model and texture. Should they fully replace the model and texture files already installed in the aircraft folder? Or should the contents just be copied and pasted into their respective folders?

BTW: Your 190 is taking some extremely rough punishment from me. Only the hardest missions are chosen for it. I love being shot up in flames, I should really post some pics. I love your birds dancat. I hope you upload more of them so I can complete my staffel.

yeah they replace the original files in the a8.
after doing all the work on the Dora vc, I might just make a whole new vc for the a8 though.
thanks for the kind words!

Still Going Strong

Hey Dancat,

The old girl is still going strong! Had to bail out over the North Sea, but she floats well enough for me to swim out!
