There is a thread going around on which is your favorite aircraft.

I was at the newstand and Warbirds has a spread on the A-1 Skyraider...."The Flying dump Truck"

I also see alot of companies in the business of rehab of Cubs, Otters, etc.....

Cubs are alot less costly, stall speed 40 mph......but crap they can't carry squat.

Skyraider........8,000lbs or 4 tons load carrying capable

you could seat 3 and still have enough to take their cars underneath.

I suppose it is cheaper and safer to make new lighter aircraft.............

But build a new skyraider with new materials............and economic design???

My favorite prop aircraft........yet probably high maintenance costs, fuel guzzler, short field takeoff and landing.......etc...not a bush aircraft stall speed 120 mph fully loaded.

Still, it would be great to be able to air drop some supplies. However, the moose aren't shooting back so speed is not a factor.

Skyraiders

Rockster,

Probably my favorite aircraft (along with the SBD Dauntless) of all time. I was fortunate enough to see them on combat ops back in VN. We used their radio call sign (Sandy) whenever we talked about them or saw them. Sometimes we called 'em Spads too. They always looked like a magnet that had flown over a junk yard with all the ordnance under their wings.

For a real treat in FS 9 or CFS 2, get the RAZBAM Skyraider packages.

Visual Ability

The Cockpit view of the ground around the Skyraider is not very good on take off and landing.........at least in the sim. Not good for bush flying

The bubble dome also would be hot or cold .........mostly hot
