Douglas C-124 Restortion and flight

Another rare VHS tape appears after nearly three decades sitting in a cabinet somewhere. Apparently the video was shot and narrated by a gentleman named Larry Rengstorf in the fall of 1983.

Following 10 years sitting in "the old aircraft field," a year of active maintenance, and the purchase of five Pratt-Whitney R-4360s engines, this rare Douglas C-124 Globemaster II is readied for a ferry flight across the country back in 1983. The aircraft now resides at the Jimmy Doolittle Museum at Travis AFB, California.

Interesting how the ramps extend through the front clam shell doors.

I've transited through Travis AFB a few times coming home from overseas, but I've never been to the museum there. If I ever get down that way again I'll have to put it on the itinerary.
