For some reason I always find myself looking back at the CFS1 days as being my most enjoyable flight sim experience. There seemed to be so many unique and fresh experiences. Today it seems games are all caught up in graphics.

CFS1 was the first game I ever bought for my first computer, well my moms computer lol. After finding out I could add planes to it, it took me 8 hours to get my first add-on installed. I probably didn’t even bother eating until I had it in the game working. Windows 98 didn’t come with winzip, so I didn’t know anything about a .zip file or how to get the files out of it, once I learned that the add-ons finally appeared.

When I think of fun in flight simulator. I think of the Helicopter Dungeon, Race Canyon, Heli Challenge, all of the H Squad Scenery, modded planes, and Arc Royal, I know it was my first computer game, but there was still something special about cfs1 and the designers that made add-ons for it.

Nothing is like trying to land a Chopper on top of Airforce 1 while it is floating in the air lol, or trying to find all of the hidden gems that were included in scenery. Why does it seem FSX doesn’t have these kinds of adventures. I sure had many fun nights. My CFS2 squadron was also a blast, but still not the same as the fun stuff that was out for cfs1.
