Downloaded Aircraft

If its working in one location but not another then it has to be a parking spot issue.

Where a plane parks is defined in the aircraft.cfg.

Look for "atc_parking_types=XXXX"

There must be a parking spot defined with the same XXXX value at the airport in order for the plane to show up there.

The type of parking spot actually defines the size or area reserved for that type of aircraft.

This is where you need to get into airport modification if you want to know how many parking spots/what type there are at an airport.

If you just want to see if you can make it show up change the parking type in the aircraft.cfg file.

The two types of Military parking that can be defined are MIL_Cargo (44 meter diameter) and MIL_Combat (26 meter diameter).

Understand I do not know what the results of placing a plane that is larger then its parking spot will be. Since parking spots are often placed right beside themselves you could end up having two planes trying to occupy the same space. Will they show up or will Flight Simulator refuse to display them.

Should be interesting to find out.

Thats sounds good in theory however Dover is one of the few airports that handles C-5's on a daily basis. After all it is a major C-5 base for MAC. It should already be set up for it.

Next question...Where can I find a working F4U Corsair? The ones I have found either have 3 overlayed cockpits or they are for FSX...I tried loading the glass fix for the Alpha Blue corsair but now it does not show up at all when I select an aircraft to fly.

If you're looking for a good freeware Corsair, go to your favorite sim site and do a search for Alpha Bleu Ciel. It is, IMHO, one of THE best Corsairs out there for FS9. MY only problem with it is the sound file. There are better ones out there. But it flies great and has pretty decent ground handling (for a big taildragger!).

And, of course, you could go to the Library here at the Outhouse, click on the "Donationware" link and pick up the Corsairs which are now, thanks to the generosity of all concerned, freeware. Between those Corsairs and the Alpha Bleu Ciel F4U-7 Corsair you should be able to cover most options.

the alpha blue looks great on the exterior however th virtual cockpit doesn't work...there are 3 cockpits overlayed and no gauges.....the glass fix for this model does not work either. i will try the other site mentioned

Remember if you are using these as AI you do not want the sound sets or panels in the AI model.

It puts a big frame rate hit on you because you will draw every gauge in the plane and it will load all the sounds it really can't use anyway. Normally when if I set up AI I add AI to the title line of the paint I want to show up then add a panel.xxx and sound.xxx to that entry. xxx will be a panel or sound set that does not exist. Therefore the sim will not load the panel or sounds.

The Coursair from this site works great. Much better than the Alpha Bleu....I have to fly around every now and then...thanks everyone...all I need now is a good working B-17G

Again, look in the Donationware section of the Library.

... the CFS2 section in case you get lost

An awful lot of CFS2 aeroplanes work very well in Fs9, you have to remove the damage profile file (dp)
and maybe edit the aircraft.cfg for the UI section, otherwise happy flying!
