Drones

If you've got engineering skills and software knowledge, it's probably a good time to get on the development wagon for these machines.

I picture a rush hour crowd moving along the elevated walkways of Hong Kong, while miniature drones move silently about their heads, randomly flashing marketing adverts....

...welcome to the 21rst century...

???

I for one have serious reservations about this program. Yes in the case of a hostage situation or some fool locking himself in a house after a domestic violence call it would be a valuable tool for law enforcement. Then again would there be any improper use of this on the privacy of legal law abiding citizens, I think we all know there would be in the wrong hands. ''A person who gives up his privacy for safety deserves neither'' Benjamin Franklin or at least words to that effect

I agree, drones are going to be, and probably have been abused by the wrong hands. And who are the wrong hands, any level of any government on the planet.

I know this is really pessimistic but there are many wrong hands. I do, however, take some encouragement from the equally valid opinion that there are good hands to stem the wrong ones. To me, drones are just another technology we are going to have a heck of a time handling responsibly.

Once a technology like this gets out of the box there's no putting it back. For better or worse drones, in one form or another, are going to be part of our lives from now on.

This is great technology for the military on the battlefield and definitely has law enforcement applications. But... it is very easy to abuse such technology and human nature and history shows us that such abuses will occur. Nope, once the genie is out of the bottle there is no putting it back into the bottle. When it comes to modern technology, I am mystified and mortified at the same time.
