Duck Question

That it is! And there are at least two different versions of it included - the screenshot Flyboy208 posted being the J2F-4, and this being the J2F-6...

Granted my 2 cents on the matter arent worth..... 2 cents :) I went on the payware website to take a look at their Duck. Personally I found the (Freeware in dispute) model much nicer, especially the virtual cockpit. I too have removed it pending an official answer from SOH, but I'm wondering if maybe someone is a little bent because a freeware model is out there which in my humble opinion (Remember 2 cents here :) ) is nicer than the payware version.

Here's to getting this matter taken care of:applause:

Agreed. But only my 2 bits as well. The only thing I had an issue with was the prop, it appears to be modded in and can't be changed. Other than that the model was extremely nice and with OBIO's mods, it was a joy to fly in FS9. Hope to see it back as soon as everything gets sorted out.

Personally I don't see the need to remove it from your sim, especially due to anything that has been stated here at all, but that is of course up to you!

As I have stated in the FSX forums, the hardest part may be to get the developer to re-upload the original aircraft to Avsimrus, or elsewhere, after the whole nonsense of having it removed took place, which I will should add, was not an action taken by anyone on the staff or administration here at SOH.

It is what it is, I suppose. Maybe I should have kept the plane. I remember an incident on a flight sim site where the AerialFounfry F/A-18's showed up as a freeware download. Since the name "AerialFoundry" wasn't included in the read-me, I thought it innocent enough. Once I installed the models and booted up the sim, I recognised Dean Reimer's handiwork straight away, as I had previously purchased the US Navy/Royal Australian Air Force AerialFoundry Hornets about a month back. I took the apropriate action, and swiftly removed the files from my system.

I know if I were an experienced flight sim developer and I went to great lengths to create an exceptional freeware model for FS9/FSX, such as the "Duck" is.... if someone turned around and accused me of piracy, I doubt if I would re-upload the model anywhere. Even if things had been sorted out to prove my legitimacy. Well, I would probably re-upload it here, just because I know this bunch pretty well, and their intentions are good. (And I'm biased.)

We'll be lucky if he doesn't decide it's not worth the hassle, and disappears altogether, never releasing anything else again.

I agree. It burns my gut to think the FS community has chased off such a talented FS freeware developer. But I'm remaining positive all can be forgiven.Fingers crossed.

That what I'm afraid of, This new talent may be lost to us forever now and that would be a real shame. :frown:

I will also be interested in seeing how SOH deals with the apparent false accuser, who appears to put money above his personal honor.

To be honest, it's been a messy few days here. This episode, coupled with the posts from Prowler about the piracy of Razbam products (and let me say, my sympathies in that instance are with the Razbam crew), has opened up a rather nasty can of worms & resulted in some pretty nasty accusations being made - including one which I am taking rather personally, and currently can't decide whether to take it up with Admin or just stop coming here.

Well I'm gunna go ahead and make my vote of confidence known by reinstalling this awesome little duck. If it turns out the other way I'll deal with that then, but in the meantime it seems like this has been one giant cowpie and I hope SWingman decides to keep contributing his talents to us.

I love the fact that Icarus, instead of admitting they/he was just simply wrong in the original accusation, and could simply take care of the matter like a gentleman, seems to be blaming SOH as being some sort of harbinger of pirates? I have never been too impressed with their/his demeanor here before, but this just takes the cake! And to take comments posted here by RAZBAM, and use them in a way that they/he can try to achieve some sort of an agenda against the SOH community at large?

I would seriously think about how big of a player SOH has been in the sale of their aircraft. As far as I know, this is the largest community on the web, members and non members combined, of people that have an interest in the niche era and type of aircraft they produce!

And all we politely asked was some proof that his Duck and the freeware duck are the same model..

Ouch! Well if that's Icarus Gold's decision so be it.
Bomber you are absolutely right! I seem to recall a time when Icarus was on fire here for some reason(I truly can't remember what).
Time to put this drama to bed and go have some FS fun! :running:

It seems that he is accusing you of being "first of pirates".....and other things

I always thought Icarus was a strange name for an FS company, I mean it didn't end well did it? :gameoff:

Wow! I guess I did bring it on myself though.

Well I'm off to get some more work done tonight, something I should have been doing much more of today than I have. HorusJ, I like your last line...
