Dunkerque Campaign

Rami,

We succeded to increase the flyable misions by 100%, I can now fly mis.2 Blenheims over Flanders and 4. Escort to pas-de-Calais the rest is still nocando. By the way I took the campaign files from the original old campaign made by Jagdflieger and installed them + a coupple of extra planes and made some renames it works fantastic exept that I hate the airstarts, I am wondering, when looking into the threads, there is more than 700 views and no comments from others.

Am I really the only one who has been fighting whis this campaign? Well I know that you made it last year in december but anyway! I find the Dunkerque subject very interresting and it took place around the same time as I saw daylight for the first time.

Also BoF (RAF) is flying pefect so I can't understand that it should be something wrong with my installation.

Killer Svend,

I also loathe air start missions, but the other missions are a mystery, because I know they work, having tested the lot yesterday. I can't imagine what the problem is...gremlins I guess.

The only reason why I knew about missions one, two, and four was because you said something. Silence from other flyers meant they either gave up or fixed them on their own...take your pick.

I am stubborn as a donkey, I will start from scratch again. Basically I think that cfs2 and windows 7/64 are made in two different centuries and are not operating to well together I never had that many problems with XP as OPS and Windows 7 and cfs1 is even worse but what can we do .Never the less, I will let you know about the outcome of my struggles.

Ok Killer, you may have 'overlooked' my earlier suggestion ;), so i'll jump in here again and ask the question: have you looked at the error.log file to pinpoint the problem object(s)?

Bearcat
No,I have not owerlooked your question, but as hopeless with computers, I do simply not have any cloo of what you mean, I you whant to help further, you have to bend it in cortoon and neon pipes as we say in Denmark. I am able to download and install a campaign I think that I have around 20 different campaigns all working perfect. I have had alot of problems before it was mostly with planes and weapons and never with the campign files itselves.

In your main CFS2 directory there's an obscure little file named 'error.log'. It records the last mission loading error encountered and tells you what went wrong. Let's give it a gander...:running:

So, what he means is

1 open Windows Explorer & navigate to the main Combat Flight Simulator folder.
2. Have a look at the files in this folder.
3. In amongst them will be a small text file called "errorlog.txt", you should be able to click on it to open it with Notepad.

Once you find it, post what it contains ...

Hope this is clearer...

I think that my next investment must be new glasses, but the Error log sayes, Quote: Error=Unable to init unit 10093
Title= Dunkeque - the evacuation begins
Filename= F:\combat flight simulator 2\campaigns\dunker
que 1

Killer Svend,

Believe it or not, that tells me a lot! :ernae:

What that is saying is that it is unable to initialize a file. In this case, following that language, it traces back to object number 4502 in these missions; this is the Groundcrew watershell effect. which I included in the campaign. Are you sure you have this effect installed properly in your EFFECTS folder, and that you put the .bgl file into the SCENEDB\fx\scenery folder? If you did not, since I use this effect several times, I'm reasonably confident that this may be why several of your missions do not work. The effect shows up as an object in the mission, so if you do not have the effect loaded, it is why the mission is not working.

Because you are not attacking an evacuating harbor, I do not use this effect in Battle of France, hence the reason why those missions are not giving you trouble.

If you can't get the effect to work, let me know, and I will send you a special set of missions with the object removed, so that you can fly the campaign you've spent so much time pulling your hair out over.

Let me know, and we'll go from there.

Coming back to the newer ending story , but believe it or not IT IS OPERATING. and for sure the GC_Watershell is the big ugly animal in the story.

I found out that it has to be installed in scenedb/FX/scenery, The Effects foulder, The objects-db folder and it should also be added to mdlnames.txt and descript dat file in the info foulder . The latter two I found out by a coincidence by looking in the File GC_Swordfish.

It was also here that I found a objects-dp for it. Maybee it is logic to every farmer that this has to be included, but not to me. when downloading your campaign and look in the objects_dp, my question is : Can you find it ? I can't.

For other poor devils sake, put it in place, so we can save the last hairs on our heads. You owe me a coupple of pints.

Killer,

I will add that file forthwith...one little thing makes the biggest difference..sigh.

I've never understood that either, but in this case, the effect file is actually loaded in the mission. That's why it took me so long to figure out the root cause.

I'm thrilled you got it working, though! Congrats!
