Duplicate airbase numbers.....

Hello folks;
CRS has hit me in the forehead again!:banghead: I have been going through my KTO airbase.dat and re-organizing evrything my airbase ID#. Lo and behold I found that several airbases from several add-on's use the same ID #'s for different airfields. It is my recollection that this causes problems, is that right? (Can't see that it isn't!).
Here is where CRS kicks in; If I have the bases in one airbase.dat but have the scenery\texs files ie; SW_Korea. Talons'(RIP) USN and USAF,McCellands Far East, Fox 4, etc. in the Scenerdb folder and activated from there will the files file draw on the relevant field and disregard inactive folders or get confused with the other numbers and mumble jumble them?
Hate to have to have separate airbase.dat for each specific bases folders..

The good news is SWs scenery doesn't work well with FFs. you'll need two seperate installs. Having said that SW has redone all of the FF bases. So if you rework the FF missions to the new bases everything will work fine. Talon did a set for the FF missions. I believe I have a copy (somewhere).

If you want to change them, just keep the numbering order. Things should be ok. The missions should call up the correct location. Although make sure they are for either SWs or FFs.

All of this is part of the reason I stopped working on my Korean War campaign. I was waiting for all of the dust to settle from the new construction. I may get back to it. I'll see how it goes with my current projects.

The Bookie may have some of Talon's reworked FF missions. I'll check my emails and see if I still have them. If you search the posts you might find our discusions on it all.

BH...

Thanks for the comeback, Here is what I have. I have SW's Red Star and Korean Bases. I also have Talons(RIP) USN and USAF missions in addition to the original FF.
Here is what I did:
-went into each one and copied the bases to the own .TXT file (ie: Talon, FF, SW) in a temp folder,
-then went into each individual .txt file and put a follower on each base (ie: Pusan-TALON,-FF,-SW) to show where it originated from.
-then merged the files into one .TXT and separated them by base ID #.
That is how I found conflicting ID's for bases.
Some of the Talon bases and FF's were off by minutes in the location or in the extreme headings and alt. No biggie there ( I think!)
In some cases three locations, far apart, were given the same ID and different names from all three.
I know that this was a bone of contention many years ago about standardization of the base numbers that seems to never have been resolved.
Hate to have have to go mission by mission to determine bases and give it my own numbers to designate then, but if I have to so be it.
What started this was I suddenly lost some LM tex's for SW's great bases. Still working on that.
Any ideas appreciated.:running:

you can seperate them like so...

Stock uses 9000-9077 for ETO.

Stock PTO 8000-8052

FFKW uses 8053-8074

I have some KW that I've done that starts at 8075-8089 It includes some in japan.

Aerocrate WWI uses 8200,8701-8720

My WWI uses 7014-7045, I plan to stay in the 7000s for these.

Rami's ETO is all over the place. There is no clear order. but it goes from 8000-9000.

So the ETO, MTO and WWI theaters/eras are not a concern for Korean. PTO bases could be. I would continue the trend of FF and the Stock PTO. If you make any new ones I would start with 6000 or so.

Those are my thoughts.

Fibber,

Talon did the Korean missions in 2 different installs.1 install had the Fox 4 airbases ( his USN was done in this one). The second install had the SW bases ( the USAF missions). Now the reason you have duplicate air bases is because Talon just put in the airbase data from the SW BASES for the corresponding bases from FF for his SW install. You probably just copied his airbase data into your install.

It has been discussed in the forums before that you should have 2 installs or you will have conflicts with the FF and SW scenery.

Blood Hawk,

Talon redid the Bunker Hill,Hunters and the British missions with the SW scenery. He also did China Intervention where you encounter Mig 15's with F-80's,F-84's and finally F-86's. He also fixed the jets to do ground attacks.Another campaign he was working on was a Saber Campaign.

To bad these will not be uploaded because he swore he would never upload any more Korean missions because of a few people. He even stated this in one of his posts.

Yea I know. It is too bad. I was/am a big fan of all of Talon's work. I have the Fixes for SWs scenery. I was trying to get him to teach me how to work on the jets. Sadly we never got that far. I wanted to do some for the RAAF with the Meteors. Those would have been mostly Ground attack missions. Tango might know but he has other matters and I don't want to bother him again. Maybe some day I'll try to figure it out.

The Bookie,

I wanted to PM you but you don't accept pms. If you ever get a chance send me one.

Fibber,

I'd be willing to help do any of the fixes that you need.

Blood Hawk,

Read the post by Hiede about the DVD sets she made and what she said about the PM's she was getting.Same thing was starting to happen to me so I turned off my PM's.Now not being in the CFS2 forum much she only knew 3 or 4 people so was not comfortable of sending anything to people she didn't know. When she was in NJ she gave me the DVDs that interested me,so I don't have all of them.We also went to WTC ceremonies together while she was here.I haven't gone thru everything yet.

Why I got the set is because I've known Al for over 40 years and Hiede for 15. I also knew Hiedes' late husband. I've also been to both their houses in Hawaii and even got to go sailing with them a few times.

As for mission building Al figured out a lot of ways to make things work that weren't in the Cody tutorial. If you look at some of his threads from years back some of the things he did are explained. He fixed planes to do what they should do and understood the AI better than most. We had many talks about it.

I always thought any missions or campaigns he did were a history lesson.

Bookie, BH....

Thanks for the info. My install is presently a KTO stand alone for the original FF theater. This has a Airbase.dat that is for the KTO ONLY and is devoid of any other theaters bases. The only original bases are the Japanese bases as some were utilized for birds flying strikes to Korea.
I guess that I missed those discussions concerning the incompatibility\conflicts of some of the bases.
Where there are conflicts between the original FF and Talons I choose Talons because, as you stated, his were more like a history lesson and researched more for accuracy. I remember that one who cannot be named here told me that some of the original FF bases were more generalities and may be not extremely accurate.
I guess a work around might be for a separate airbase.dat for each one to be activated for whenever I want to utilize specific bases.

Fibber,

The best solution is 2 installs-FF install and SW install.I don't know why you just want to keep making problems for yourself.I have 2 installs but only use the one with the SW bases because all the missions except the Red Star missions have been converted to use the SW scenery including the USN campaign by Talon.
