Dutch SOH meet 2010: Overloon museum.

I had hoped the weather would clear and I could ride the bike down.... but heck, it started SNOWING again !! :blind:

Looking at the forecast there's very little chance of the snow melting the coming week, and it snowed again for the last hour..

Shame you won't be able to make it, Henk!

That place looks amazing, just my sort of place and I must say those vehicles look immaculately kept also! Great Pics :applause:

Unfortunately Maarten and Cees couldn't make it today, but the rest of us had a good time amidst a huge collection of WW2 items and vehicles! :applause:

A group photo; from left to right: Mees, the oldest son of Rob Cappers, Rob (Robcap) himself, Francois, Huub Vink, Jankees, Alex (Grunau_baby) and René (Warrant). The radar dish in the background is a German 'Wurzburg riese'.

More to follow!

It was great to see everybody AND the museum! Photos are downloading now, but it will take me some time to 'develop' the roll...... other things need attention first... like FS news for instance :icon_lol:

I got home just before the roads closed again !!! :icon_lol::isadizzy:

It was a fun day! Great to see people from SOH in "the flesh".
I will up some pic's once sorted out (i was probably the fastest person home, but duty called once i entered the door). :wavey:

Indeed we had a great time:)
I forgot my camera, but I'm sure the others will post some pics.
I need to go to the model paint shop, to get some paint for the models we bought (a Sherman tank and a Liberator motor bike)

Bye, Rob

AAH, at last some more pics!
Yep Alex, your Dutch is very good, forgot to mention it!
I hope you got to understand our Dutch as well :)

I'd like to see some more pics with some of us on it, I only spot Warront on one of these.

Cherio, Rob

I'd like to see some more pics with some of us on it, I only spot Warrant on one of these.

If you look closely you can see Francois taking photos behind the Panther tank..

Here's Alex looking at a battle-damaged Churchill tank:

Here a small contribution from me:

Edit: Upload failed again. I'll upload once the upload tool is fully operational.

Russian ZSU-23 AA tank (Warrant will correct me on this if I'm wrong..):
Almost, Ferry :mixedsmi:

It is a ZSU 23/4 Shilka Self Propelled Anti Aircraft Gun (SPAAG) with a "Gun Dish" Fire Control Radar (FCR), which is the big weather-covered dish on top of the turret. It comprises of 4 x 23mm gun, the radar and 2 x optical device. The big rectangular shape of the turret is due to the munitions storage on the left and right-hand side of the gun's in the turret. The chassis (or undercarriage if you will) is shared with the 2K12 "Kub", perhaps better known as the SA-6 "Gainful". The Shilka typically (Soviet doctrine) operated in conjunction with the 9K35 Strela-10 (SA-13 "Gopher") or the 9K31 Strela-1 (SA-9 "Gaskin"), both self-propelled IR guided SAM systems. Due to the availablility of a FCR on the Shilka-system the weapon was/is also very capable to operate autonomous. Early warning was provided by the "Dog Ear" radar at regiment level.
