I popped into Duxford a few days ago to see what happens to the warbirds out of season. Here's some pics of some of them being readied for the new season...
regarding the Beau, the owner has located one, possibly two suitable engines. Other than that, everything that is posted on the internet is just speculation. As far as I know it is still up for sale.
Mmm, you probably live nearer to Duxford than I do, Ferry. Go, but don't expect to be able to photograph everything in one day. I work pretty quickly but even so, did not have nearly enough time to photograph everything.
Its impossible to photograph a lot of the privately owned stuff while its in the hangar as there is too much other stuff in the way. I reckon that I photographed only about a third of the privately owned aircraft. Aircraft missed due to this included a Staggerwing, P-47, B-25, Rapide, many Spits and P-51s. Not too bothered about the P-51s though.
I suspect that the Fw-190 is a replica. Its amongst the privately owned stuff, and AFAIK nobody is flying a genuine one at the moment. Looks lovely, whatever its pedigree.
