S.O.S.

Well your 'friends' may have AOL, AT&T, Hotmail, Yahoo, or are on Facebook? This is a common occurance for members of all those (and more?) sites. I have gotten Emails from 'friends' whose name I do recognize, but they turn out to be bogus (usually selling viagra, etc). Eventually they will stop. So no need to do anything drastic. Just I just deleted and waited. I flag as junk (if your email has this feature) which will eventually catch them. Just one of those irritating aspects of 'working' on the web. It does feel 'weird' though. I dig.

Thanks for the input, Chuck......

First thing I did was send out warnings, then I up-graded to Yahoo's newest e-mail system (supposedly a safer version) and changed my password. See if that works.

I wonder if it would be possible to spoof an email from someone without hacking that someone's account. Meaning, if you have access to the receiver's address book with LD in it, to send them a message purporting to come from LD, but without ever having access to LD's email or address book.

Granted, the possibility of this happening to several of LDs contacts at the same time is unlikely... Just glad I'm not in LD's contact list - I have enough viagra and anatomical enlargement offers for both sexes to last a while. :icon_lol:

Changing your password is the best thing to do.

Actually your email address is sold by websites you visit or buy things from. I know SOH doesn't do this but there are many out that do. Hackers get ahold of an email and can end up hacking into it. It's happened to me with my hotmail account. I couldn't get back into one of mine and had to contact MS to change the password. Once I did that the hack was gone.

Sounds to me like Melissa.
Run Malwarebytes in safe mode. Kill your email address file.
If you still are sending . change your password.

I remember that hack and it was fixed afterwards, I never received another bogus email.:wavey:

I had the same problem about 2 weeks ago, starting getting emails from people asking me why if I had sent them these weird emails... Checked my Laptop and desktop for a virus, both were clean.. I did change my password for my email, and that seemed to correct it.. I had read an article that Yahoo, Hotmail etc had been hit by hackers and that they had been looking for Government employees (to which I am not) but I think that is where it started.
