E.T.O. 1.0 install issues

Well, The install went fine. Except the shortcuts on my desktop don't work. They are "greyed out" and give msg "
The item 'CFS3 ETO Backup.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved and will no longer work...."

I was able to click on the CFS3.exe in the ETO folder and fly my 109g for awhile. The main shortcut is missing---I inadvertantly deleted it...how can I retreive it (it is not in my Recycle Bin)? Should I continue with the upgrade process or am I FUBAR'd at this point?

When I right click on the shortcuts>properties>the path is correct C:\Progam files (x86)\Windows Games\....

Since the ETO app works, I hate to unistal/reinstall it.

I found an error in the MASTERETOSTARTUP file. (bonehead) and fixed it. When I click on CFS3.exe I get to 1940 and it flys great. How can I get the missing Shortcut back (the one that has the other era's).

I was able to copy the ETO Backup shortcut to the desktop and it works fine.

Barnstorm. I used hairyspin's "ETO_ETO_instructional_guide.zip" to load my ETO in Windows 7. It is in the Add-on

Archives-locate by author-hairyspin. This zip could solve your problems.

I hope this helps

Thanks rcafmad,
I ripped out the first install and started over...The 2nd install went smooth as "snot as on a door nob". I followed the ETO Instructional guide like a college freshman follows a bikini on Spring Break. Everything went great until...I started the program..It worked perfectly, but only in 1940. No matter what option I choose, the 1940 era comes up. I checked and I edited the all files w/o error. Tried the "repair" process and really mucked things up. Oh well, I guess I'll stick to flying my WWI crates in OFF.

ETOGLSwapper.bat file in the global_layer folder has to be edited.

You have to edit the ETOGLswppaer.bat in the "global _layer folder. I had the same problem. You have to edit the

file by adding C:\Program File (x86)\. You will see it the writeup. You should get all the Eras.

Yeah, I made all the edits to that file as well. I think I am going to re-download the .zip files. Maybe something got corrupted in the transfer...That's all I can figure. I sure do appricate your help, though.

Well, I finally got ETO up and running. What was happening was, my security software (SpySweeper) kept turning the User Accounts Control back "On" after I would disable it. So after I disabled SpySweeper, the install went fine and it works like it should. I thought I was going nutz.....

Do I have to "fly" version 1.0 before I start the upgrade process?

Thanks for all help, I appreciate it.

:kilroy:Barnstorm, the answer to your question is "yes".

It doesn't matter what Era you choose to fly it in, but it must be started in Era 1 and exited, then the Spawn Selector must be set to 1, Stock Spawn Mode before installing any and all Updates.

I hope this helps.:d

Thanks, Grizz. I got it up-dated all the way to 3.1 and everything works. I guess even a blind pig can find an acorn if he roots around long enough.

I see the download called "eto-perf_visuals_32bit.zip", the readme.txt says there is 64bit version available, but I only see the 32 bit file. Has any one tried this add-on, if so does it give much of a perf increse (visual quality)? And, is the 32 bit file compatable with a 64bit OS?
