Early KLM scheme for Manfred's C-47

My screenshots never look that good.
And I concur with Stovall's earlier comment, Huub's KLM paint job is certainly worthy of being included in Manfred's C-47 package.
I'm using a ASUS (ATI) EAH5850 DirectCU 1GB with RadeonPro program with SweetFX. Similar to Nvidia inspector.

It seems that I have to tune down the spec map and alphas a bit and there is a small gap between the nose cone and the lining over the fuselage. I think this is caused by the shape of the texture for the nose cone, which can easily be solved. For the rest I think it fits quite well.
The new bump maps are definitely an improvement.
When Manfred has released his upgraded model I will an update for these textures. As always I noticed some minor errors after I had uploaded the textures. I will correct these for the new model.

Peculiar enough most of the KLM DC-3 photo's i have are from the port side. Here's one of the starboard side of PH-TCL to confirm 'De Vliegende Hollander' was also used on early bare-metal liveries.:
You can safely use this as a rule of thumb but that's about it.

There's literally ' no DC-3/C-47 alike' , as an FS aircraft modeler/painter it's enough to drive you crazy. :mix-smi:
Atleast re the tail of PH-DAT you're alright, it's of the glider-tow type. Just about all KLM DC-3's did not have the elongated air scoops anymore like Manfred has modeled on his amazing DC-3. ( been a long time since i worked on the DC-3 but i seem to remember it has something to do with the supercharger which was not used on most civilian DC-3's as they usually didn't fly higher as 10.000 feet. ) Re the pax/cargo door configs..... you'd probabely win the lotto first before you have any luck on that...

Interesting to see here is that PH-DAT was first used in passenger config and later as a freighter ( check the yellow cargo rack behind the windows in the color photo ) The cargo door is still there but uses much smaller hinges. Often the front door was equipped with an inner door that was used for boarding.
Sure is a wonderful livery to choose for Manfred's spectacular model, Huub. Will be great fun working on that. Envy you !

That's remarkable, Paul.
IIRC i created these sounds from the dutch movie 'Dakota' by Pim de Laparra/Wim Verstappen. It flopped because some of the actors walked away but it is a must see for DC-3 lovers as the DC-3 is the main character in this movie. It's about a lone pilot flying his DC-3 from Paramaribo/Surinam to the Netherlands in one go. Pumping fuel from drums inside the cabin to the tanks along the way. The flying sequenses, including the sounds, are top notch.

As you can see the front of the banner is leaning forward (the top is further to the front than the bottom), while on the pictures you posted earlier, you will see the banner was leaning backwards on most other aircraft (of course I missed this in my repaint
).
But nevertheless your pictures contain a lot of valuable information. The banner on the TDW was most probably a bit longer than I made it. The frame around the door was obviously not present at the TDW (this frame was based on the DDA schemes).
Looking at the pictures I realise the font I used for the registration on the fuselage is too bold.
The letters "K.L.M." below the banner in front of the windows are too far backwards, but this is something I can't really solve as there is an in take at one side.
So enough to update for the time being, well that will mke it worth to download the update as soon as Manfred has released his upgraded model.

Yep it is... that's why I jumped on the chance to get involved since the MAAM version is my favorite aircraft! I have been working on sound/smoke effects tailored to fit the new slow startup effects. I haven't heard to much about the VC, except his looking into it and Gman is creating civil/military style repaints for the current version.
Huub... always loved the KLM liveries, hope to see more versions you can produce! The nose area on all the earlier repaints have the same type of issues, can be easily fixed.
Generally I don't go for the bigger stuff, but the more I see this one, the more I like about it.
The model is very nicely done.
The artwork applied is well done right down to the aluminum shine and bump maps.
It's really a work of art all the way around. Fantastic job Manfred. And everyone who has done any paintwork. This thing really shines!
And now TuFun. I loved the video. Great work on the start-up and sound set. It's really sounds (and fits) the part. Even the fly-by (s) sounded real nice. Harmonic even. Just right.

PH-TDW has a pointed tail but it's a 'kniesoor die daar op let', éh ?...
I do have a small hope Manfred might produce a DC-3 model with the short air scopes as most civil DC-3's were equipped with it.
Don't worry too much about the front of the banner, your repaint looks absolutely gorgeous !

Both the visual and audio start-up sequence is all a dedicated DC-3 lover could wish for. Bravo!! ( is that Hansi and his XML magic at work there ?... )
I have retired myself from FS aircraft design but boy-oh-boy do my hands start itching regarding a vintage VC with each and every screenshot and video i see ! :mix-smi:

Thanks for this new picture Jan. I didn't know this one. The banner is leaning forward on this aircraft as well so perhaps there is a link between the banner and the English text.
Don't worry I have already update the bannner and improved the font of the registration on the fuselage as this isn't much work. As I don't know what surprises Manfred will have for us, I won't release an update before the new model is available.
The tail and large air intakes are something we have to live with. Perhaps Manfred will release a version with small intakes, but his current made is already quite an improvement on the default DC-3. With all extras like Tufun's start-up effects and Gman's the upgraded model will be even better!

Trying my best to have a decent sound for Manfred's version. Have you heard the internal sounds? Did those too. Yes, Hansi is doing his magic!
MAAM missed out on great opportunity on doing a FSX model! It's still my favorite DC3!
