• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Emergency landing

"Any port in a storm". Interstate highways make good emergency runways for GA. . . as long as traffic is paying attention through their sunroofs !!

:running:

That airplane does- or did belong to the Delaware State Police. Initially it was used for running the governor around, but I think it was religated to prisoner transport. I think I've got pics from back in the day of her.

A number of years ago I saw an advertisement from the 1950's about the safeness of the Aerocommander. They removed a prop from an engine, put it in the baggage compartment, then started up the engine that still had a prop, and then took off. Kinda crazy.

Ya know, I think I have made that exact same "emergency landing/crash" in Milton Shupe and Team's AeroCommander. Well, I know I have crashed it a lot...so the odds are good that it was on that particular highway or one very close to it.
