These guys were ahead of their time in 1964. :encouragement:

Kind of funny to see the 1950/60's vintage cars on the street near the futuristic starship.

Wow. Nice! I always liked the original version over the newer ones with all the swoopty curves and such. That's cool.
 
Interesting about Jensen.

I suppose one day I should complete this AMT kit of NCC-1701. I've had it for a couple decades now...
 
Thats a very nice picture of the original model. I also liked the original, tho I think 1701A is my favorite. The original ship was designed by Matt Jefferies, who designed a lot of things for the show such as ships, interiors, props, sets. What is amazing if you think about it, is he, and the set/model builders did it all with the show's shoestring budget. Matt was also an avid pilot.

i think whats cool about the top picture is that ford galaxy....get it?..space ship and a galaxy??....i so funny:adoration::untroubled:

Is that the Santa maria next to it? I've had a kit of that as a kid (Got it as a birthday gift, together with a kit of the USS Constitution.); problem is, I never really cared for boats (Even though I am Dutch and we used to rule the seas in the past..) so it spent about twenty years in my closet until I finally threw it out... Never even started it! The Constitution I painted the hull a bit, but never progressed any further. Guess I was more into planes, cars and trucks back then. Mostly armour these days.

Hi Ferry. Oops, this thread "dropped off my scan", so to speak, and then I cleaned out my attachments. Yes, that was (is) Santa Maria. The kit is a 1/90 scale by Revell, from many years ago. I've had it for a couple decades, and started working on it a few months ago. It's interesting, for a Flight Sim guy, my "historical passion" has probably leaned a bit more towards ships than planes, but just barely... :) I'm up to the hard part now - the rigging...
 
When I was in my early teens I built a model of HMS Victory for my uncle and he insisted I painted it with lead-free, non-toxic paint (not easy to find in the early 70's). After it was finished he had me shoot holes in the hull with my .22 air rifle! :icon_eek:

He then filled the hull with fine gravel and sank it in his 8 ft long x 4 ft high x 2 ft wide aquarium for his tropical fish to play in! :icon_lol:
