Etendard IVM BETA is released

Is anyone else getting an object collision when launching from the waist cat on the Clem?

I had this problem constantly!! I tried different aircraft, different fuel loads and different launch techniques and nothing but object collisions. I finally gave up and now use just the Ark Royal IV and Javier's Nimitz.

Hi,
I'm sorry about that...

It occured with 2.05, the previous Clemenceau version, and me and my team mates had to fly with "object collision" unchecked.
But with the v2.08, we don't have any object collision left...

May be check in your Clemenceau folder, into Model folder and model.cfg file, the right mdl file is: "Clemenceau_HD_v28.MDL".
I you are already using this mdl, I don't know what happened, because all the flight deck of the 3D model is "cleaned up" : all the objects have a "no crash" property attached...

If any carrier or scenery designers may help me understanding what's happening?

Regards,
S.

Clemenceau animations... how to ?

OK I've got the Etendard, the Clemenceau 2.8, FSUIPC 4, Aicarrier2, I have positionned the Clem close to Cannes, I can see it, I slewed to the deck, I'm in position on top of the catapult (well I think so) and now what? How do I trigger the catapult? shift-I or U or space bar? I want to fly, not swim! I'm lost here, help!
Except this (my incompetence), the plane and the boat are just wonderful... The Etendard works fine with the Nimitz... Did I missed something with the Clem?

You've got an excellent documentation in the Etandard folder, with pictures explaining everything :)

Lift Off !

Yes I've got it! Solution: read the documentation. Merci Daube... The trick is to position the back wheels in the correct spot (white lines). See picture:

And then Shift-U, shift-I, full flaps, full gas, Shift-space-bar... whoof!!

Chris, I think this was pretty much the best shot on approach to Hull if indeed it was hull lol???? Landvisiau to Hull or wherever really lol with one of the finest FSX pilots! I was Honoured! Such a crap shot to commemorate it though, sorry mate!

Hi!
Please try to use the "Brakes" instead of "Shift+Space". "Shift+Space" is the acceleration catapult launch build for the F18. Using the Brakes, you will have a launch which takes into account the plane weight, the true wind over the deck and the original reference data sheet.

Last, It seems that, on your screenshot, flaps are not down ... don't forget to extend the flaps if you don't want to finish your flight with "Pedro" (the Alouette safeguard helo)

This I am positive is caused by using MAX realisim or as I prefer MAX CRAP, try it with the sliders pulled back to the left if ok advance them till the problem reappears

peter12213, you may remember the collision fiasco when Victorious was released, down to Max Realisim if I remember rightly, I spent a day taxiing around running into things with no crashes till MAX Crap was turned on, same with the hold back disengaging on it's own Max crap again, as far as I am concerned it is a pile of half baked junk throwing random multipliers into the works.

The Fs9 realism is probably near right and causes none of these problems.

Snecma Atar 9K50 / 8K50 sound pack available at Mirage4FS.Com here :

http://www.mirage4fs.com/sounds.html

Very Very close to the real engine sound
:mixedsmi:

This is payware ($12.99) for the sound file. I am sure there are some freeware alternatives. A very nice and loud FS2004 sound file I used for Rick P's Meteor was actually from a Tu-154 airliner! Once installed, you would never know!

I was really worried about the flight dynamics on this aircraft... but it turned out it was just my flight controls being improperly calibrated.... this aircraft flies GREAT!

Peter and I flew a cross country across the channel today in 2 mile visibility and one thousand foot ceilings. The Entendard flies very very well in formation. I'm sure we'll be flying this one frequently. Thanks for a wonderfully flying machine -- she's a beauty. :salute::salute:

By the way if you follow the discussion on the french PiloteVirtuel.Com web site
be advised that the participant surnamed "micpni" is Michel Panattoni, a retired
french naval officer that was a real Entendard IVM pilot.

http://www.pilote-virtuel.com/viewtopic.php?pid=240788#p240788

Michel have been a special advisor for the RFN team for the development of
this FSX french beauty of the seventies !

Detailed informations given by Michel on this french discussion forum are simply
invaluable.

On the photo below, Michel is third standing from the right.

Merci Michel pour toutes ces précieuses informations.

PS : Next RFN projects are for a FSX Super Étendard ( SUE ) and Super Étendard
Modernisé ( SEM ) and a FSX "Charles De Gaulle" nuclear aircraft carrier.

Yes ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Hi,
Yes, Michel is even more than an advisor in this project!

Regarding the photo, please do not forget to add that is taken from JM Gall's book "La Saga Etandard"...

PS : Next RFN projects are for a FSX Super Étendard ( SUE ) and Super Étendard
Modernisé ( SEM ) and a FSX "Charles De Gaulle" nuclear aircraft carrier.

For the moment none of Super Etendard or Charles de Gaulle Carrier projects are really decided.
I've just released a first version of Etendard IVM and a V2.08 of Clemenceau and there are still a lot of work to be done on both. The next steps are: finishing EtendardIVM and IVP, doing a V3 of Clemenceau (fixing some bugs, adding a Foch circa 1975) and then I'd like to work on a Arromanches carrier (Ex HMS Collossus).

Doing a FSX model is a so long and so hard task (about 1 year just for the virtual cockpit that I've just released) that I can't look further than the current project and the one I woulld like to start just after...

S.

OK, it happened again !(see my post on page 5 of this thread)

Changes since the last encounter with this apparition were that I aliased the sound to my SkySim Mirage III and edited that pkg's sound cfg. with the edit on page [6] of this thread.
This time after [6] "wave offs" I disobeyed and slammed her down on the deck pretty hard. This time I got the sound edit for the [CARRIER_TRAP] section, no "Over-G" and something like "trap 4th. wire, red deck."
I sure hope the LSO was not talking about blood...my blood!

Anyway as I retracted the tail hook, had the wingtips folded up and opened the canopy, I taxied to the fantail and turned to line up for a launch from the left waist catapult. The ship bounced x 1..I have my scenery mesh set at 2M...I think this causes the bouncing of scenery objects...and at this moment the lights on the deck began to move toward my position and slide underneath the Etendard. I snapped a couple of real quick screenies and spun around and continue to gather evidence.
I've made a 400 pixel GIF from one of those on line GIF maker places, hope this works.
What a strange bird FSX, Preview DirectX 10 mode is. :banghead:

Unfortunately , it is a FSX bug due to attached points for lights used into the carrier model...
Try to turn down your water effect settings and/or to not use the DX10 preview mode which bring a lot of ligth pb...
For now I don't know any other work-around neither fix to implement into my model...For your information, Nimitz carrier doesn't use attached points light but a specific attached point that add all the flight deck light at once....

I don't seem to have the LSO's voice at all is anyone else having this problem?

The LSO's voice doesn't use the Etendard sound folder but dsd_xml_sound gauge and the Acceleration carrier mission sound files.
Please check that your VHF sound light is on (close to the gear lever), and also that Clemenceau Tacan frequency is tuned on Nav2 with PHI mode set to "Tac".
Let me know if it still not work?

Regards,
S.

Thanks

Sylvain,

Thanks for a wonderful aircraft, and the 'target' is pretty good too! As you can guess I was a submariner too (Royal Australian Navy). Funny how we are both interested in things that fly:cool:

Anyway, just love your work - merci beaucoup!
