Etendard IVM BETA is released

Sorry 'RW' is real world users, just me being lazy and wanting to go fly here again! Apart from Aeronaval in France and Argentina (?), I do not think they have been used around the world much.

Yep Sylvain.....an outstanding job you did with your fellow developers!!

Truly awesome...vraiment génial!

Cheers :salute:

Can't wait to try it tonight after work. Wonderful work, Sylvain!!

PS: Calypsos, I agree - a well-designed aircraft that would have been a good strike/reconnaissance naval asset for many other nations. For my part, I've always wondered if Canada's Navy had retained her strike capability into the 60s and 70s, would the Etendard not have been a logical choice? I would likely have been a good choice for other smaller naval forces, such as NZ and AU - wonder if they considered it in the context of the Skyhawk purchases? Would have made a good land-based strike plane too, for a whole host more nations. Curious what export considerations were made, but not actually pursued, with this aircraft?

The HUD is very well done. There´s something wacky going on with lights, though. I use the Skysim MirageIII sounds with this baby instead of the Acceleration's Hornet.

That light issue is a MSFS problem that many add-ons have, it was a bug that has never been sorted. Still, in reality, my head will not spin that far back, so it is not a problem for me!

Just loving this aircraft, for me this is the best (and most fun) carrier aircraft to fly since the FS9 Sea Vixen, which I have never tried to port over.

An absolutely outstanding addon ! There's something about these French addons that set them apart from most, and this one has it all :salute:
Very well done indeed.
The texturing looks exceptional but I miss subtle bump mapping and the cockpit would probably also benefit from a slightly duller specular shine. I find the various parts of the cockpit a bit glary.
Would it be an idea to add an alpha channel to the external diffuse maps?
Is the model enabled for an alpha channel on the diffuse maps?
I know most of these aircraft were painted using gloss colours. An alpha on the diffuse maps (say RGB 240-240-240/almost white) and a slightly darker specular map would be something to try, possibly.
Please don't take this as critisism, I'm just brainstorming here.
I hope there will be a repaint kit issued, this thing is a keeper :jump::jump:

Thanks for the hard work

The HUD display that was inserted?
I'm interested!

absolutely speechless ... very promising since the first screenshots

looks like a great job, complete, detailed rich in detail, operating ...

thanks for having made available to all simmer ...

absolutely agree with peter ... the Hunter sound is that comes closest.

:jump::jump: :wiggle: :jump::jump:

Absolutely a wondeful aircraft....:salute:
Fantastic detail,VC that is better then most payware and FPS are not hit at all!!!

Thank you for all the time and talent it took to produce this quality product...

Really cool how you can click the canopy/frame transparent....

I´m sorry, but that Atar sound file sounds as much as the real deal as my Ford Explorer sounds like a Ferrari, I can tell you this since where i currently live there is a military base full of F-1´s (which are being phased out btw in favor of Grippens) and i see and hear them everyday.
The Skysim Mirage sound is very close to what i can hear, even as it´s 2 different Atar engines, but it´s pretty close.

Best regards
Prowler

Hi!
There're two points on your screenshots:
1- As calypsos said FSX is doing some strange things mixing lights hard coded in the exterior model with the virtual cockpit model...
2- I didn't add the wings into the VC model... I was wondering to not increase to much my number of polys, but will certainly add them later with the next release...

Regarding paint scheme, unfortunately, only French Navy had this Etendard and they didn't have a lot of inspiration : grey/white and grey/light grey in 20 years of service... mmm bad news for all the repainters...(lol)

Regarding the crash due to a object collision, did you installed the last version of Clemenceau (v2.08)? I cleaned up the flight deck in order to avoid such problem...

Regarding sounds, yes the Mirage F1 soundset is a good choice (F1 used almost the same engine) but don't forget to edit the sound.cfg and copy -paste the last entries taken from the F-18 sound file: it will add sounds for nav ops actions like trapping....

Last, the team and I are very happy to read that you like this plane: the more simmers fly with navy planes the more I'm happy...:bump:

Sylvain

This is a freeware gem of incalculable proportions!, only problem i have is, no matter the AOA, and where you hit on the Clem deck, i get an object collision, BUT, if i do hit the deck just after the wires, for a bolter, once you pull up, there is another object collision..any ideas?

Prowler

Yeah have the latest Clem model Sylvain, but I'm still getting an object collision when using the waist cat! Also as prowler said during boulters too!

Unfortunately the LSO's voice is not working too?

Thanks , I appreciate the comment!

Regarding object collision, I think it is due to the Clemenceau model... I just had a look at it searching what may cause this problem but I don't find out any "guilty" object except the shuttle...
It seems to be different from one PC to another FSX... I have such differencies also with the launchbar (disarming sometimes)...
I will work on it and keep you informed... In the meanwhile try to fly with "crash detection" off? (lol)

Regards,
S.

It is interesting what Prowler mentions. I have no issues with object collisions with the Etendard and Clem but I do with Roland's F-8 FSX portover. I get the object collision just as the plane crosses the ramp if I am just slightly low on the glideslope. When the collision detection occurs, I notice that on the exterior view, the Crusader is well above the deck/ramp. Oddly all other aircraft models do fine on Clem!
