ETO Dakota C-47 RAF - Wrong entered service date?

Hi
Today I flew a ETO Attack in the West campaign mission at June 1:st 1940 where we were assigned to intercept a flight of Dakota C-47. :icon_eek:

The ETO_C-47 RAF.xdp says:

EnteredService="03/01/1940"

Later in the xpd there is this info:

<Description String="
This Dakota C-47 was based in the ETO in 1942-45

What would a historically accurate date for the RAF Dakota C-47 in ETO?

I found some info here:
http://ukmamsoba.org/history_dakota.htm

"24 Squadron - During the early part of World War II its operations were mainly centred on the UK, but in April 1942 it began to fly to Gibraltar and later Malta."

Cheers

Confirmed - 10 impressed DC-3 Dakotas (No mark number) entered service in April 1942 with No.31 Sqn in India... Military Dakotas Mk.I went first to BOAC for the UK - Gib - N.Africa route and then to Nos 216, 117, 31 and 24 Sqns, respectively in Egypt, Sicily/North Africa, Burma and the UK. 24 Sqn became operational on Dakota Mk.I in April 1943. The Dakota Mk.III began arriving in the course of 1943.

Which means you're right, and the 'entered service' date needs to be set to April 1943 at the very earliest.

Will making these corrections in the .xdp file affect the plane occurence in missions or campaigns ?

if spawns is setup at yes in the xdp file then, it will affect all missions that call for a bomber (USA and British) and the aircraft will appear on airfields from the entry date.

there are many aircrafts that have wrong entry end left service dates.
