ETO Expansion Download Links, Comments, Questions"

the file is indeed over 1 gig. it downloaded but when i try to open it, the message prompt of "do you want to save or open?" will keep popping up as many times as i click "open".. do i just have to wait? also, any ideas on why my startup screen doesnt display any version number of which cfs3 im running? btw im on vista. i hope i can resolve this, ive played cfs1 and il2 1946 online, had loads of fun and now i am back with cfs3. the game is so much more fun offline than il 2 ,and i think that in some ways cfs3 flight models are more "realistic" than il 2. thanks,

The program file should be CFS3 ETO Expansion Rev 1.0.exe and I don't know why you're getting this save or open dialogue box. You may have to download again.

As far as version numbering goes, go to the About item on the menu in-game, but due to an oversight by MS, it will say version 3.1 whether you've patched to 3.1a or not - the confirmation you get after running the 3.1a patch is all the info you get!

:kilroy:Rufus Rafft, you don't "Open" the zip file, you "extract" it. Right-click on the CFS3_ETO_Expansion_1.0.zip and choose "Extract" or "Extract to" from the menu.:d

Problem with CFS3 ETO Expansion 1.2

I have loaded everything for CFS3 ETO Expansion 1.2 and it all works, except the terrain is multi-colored - that is red, white, blue, turqoise, black, etc. and is patch work not in continuity. My computer is running Windows XP Media Center Edition with Service Pack 3; Dual Pentium 2.8 ghz with 1 gb ram. Has anyone had the same experience and if so how did you fix the problem? Thanks

okay,
I think I succeeded in the download. on my start menu is an additional cfs3 icon with the word "play" next to it. when i click it, the game starts, but no add'l maps, etc- do i have to activate it further?

I used to fly flight sims hardcore about 3 or 4 years ago...then got out of it and after a long hiatus I'm just now getting back into it. CFS3 was one of the sims I flew, and although it was a good sim on it's own, I preferred IL2. However, after reading these forums this week I decided to give it another shot with the ETO overhaul to see what it was all about. I had never heard of ETO until this week, so I was excited to see what all the hub-bub was about...and wow. This addon is fantastic...it's like playing a entirely new simulation. Awesome job fellas....can't wait to try out PTO as well. :ernae:
 
Little bit more feedback after flying more...

Had a minor problem where all Eras before 3 would CTD when warping...went through past posts and deduced that I didn't have the spawn stuff right...which was the problem. Now that I figured that out the sim works perfectly without a hitch.

For the combat itself...it might be my rustiness but ETO seems to be much more challenging than the default CFS3. I was flying era 3, and in the first mission with the P-38 after switching from the P-47, I promptly got my rear handed to me by a BF-110.

I have been flying Era 1 mostly...very challenging and fun. I love it when the Ju-88's think they can turn and burn with the Hurricanes, yet a bunch of Me-109's always swoop in and cut my squad to pieces. Out of 11 Era 1 missions, I have 7 bailouts, 1 crash landing, and 3 successful missions. I think I'm going to drain England's resources just by supplying me with Hurricanes. I do have 49 kills in that time though, so as long as I'm surviving I'm doing damage. :pop4:
 
Missing ETO_Bf109_SCW" and ETO_Cr32_SCW

Can anybody tell me where to find these planes I don't have them and the new mission for the SCW I-16 calls for them?

I've just returned to CFS3 this Christmas after a two year stint looking after new borns to similarly find this ETO an outstanding enhancement! Mission building really has potential and the environment is amazing! My utmost thanks to the ETO team.

ma premiere question:certaine mission comporte des avions dont les fichiers xdp sont en categorie level bomber et il m'est impossible d'y jouer, le jeu s'arrete, sauf si je corrige les fichier xdp categorie en tactical bomber ,que faut il faire?? 2eme: eto ne comporte pas d'uniforme francais d'origine 1940 ,j'ai donc mis l'add on cfs3 pilote francais, cet add on fonctinnait bien sur cfs3 ,mais sur eto mon pilote francais saute en uniforme marron et atterri en uniforme bleu anglais??? que faut il faire?3eme: est il normal que la voie en francais ne marche pas? ou n'a t'elle pas ete cree?

Does any body know how to "completely "disable norton 360 temporarily, to enable the usage of the BDP zapper in ETO v1.2?

"Mission files failed to load"- is this terminal?

Hi,
After long and trouble free flying with CFS3, I've now managed to 'ugger up my ETO Expansion v 1.31 and am getting "Mission file failed to load" when starting.
Problem arose following the addition of a mission viz. Slip Stream's Tipping Pack, which didn't go to well as I couldn't find Squiffy's V1 (so no sound) and the Meteor would not download from AvHistory. (I wasn't aware that they don't like Firefox at this site).
I did infact get the mission working eventually with both Tempest and Meteor, but never got close enough for a "tipping". Very difficult to adjust speed accurately.
About this time I had also added another Meteor, the Meteor_f3 which flew O.K. Then I came across the ETO_Meteor_Mk3 listed in the available aircraft, but when selected would freeze the game - no cursor or any control. Had to then restart computer.
I then attempted to get this ETO_Meteor_Mk3, but gradually made matters worse and ended up losing the game completely. I have tried the ETO's ERA Recovery program, but this makes no difference.
I hope there is something I can try. I don't think I could face a complete reinstall. I probably wouldn't remember what was to be done.

I just successfuly installed ETO up to 1.31 and wanted to see if i could run the Just Fligtht Memphis Belle that i bought several years ago in ETO....will it convert with the firepower conversoin or can someone tell me what we need to change in the plane files to make them compatible for ETO? I did the Firepower conversoin already but did not have the B 24 so i just created the folder and it seemed to run ok.

any ideas about the Belle? it looks like a nice add on and has its own misiosns which i am assuming wont run in ETO... i can install it in my default vanilla install that i kept. but just wondered about adding it to the ETO and being able to use it....for some reason the 1.8 patch would not recognize my base install of CFS3 which was where i had Firepower installed.

While we are on the subject of ETO, i have some improved armoured vehicles, a British loco etc..will those add to ETO or is all that stuff already customized?
 
You can put the Memphis Belle from FirePower into ETO 1.31. Be sure to put the B_17_share with the plane into the aircraft folder. I have done this and it work fine. I also think the missions will work but not sure on that. I might try that myself to find out.

You will want to put in the right weapons a pylons also.
