ETO Still "Crashing" in Campaign Mode...Need Assist, Please

ETO Still "Crashing" in Campaign Mode...Need Assist, Please

Hey All,
I thought I had this problem figured out (look what thought did to me, huh?), but here's the scoop:

When I fly ETO in Q/C (quick combat) mode and select Free Flight or Missions, the app runs great...No problems at all.

When I select Campaign Mode, everything goes smooth....UNTIL the bogie's appear (spawned, I guess) near the target area and the "CFS3 has stopped Workking...." message popps-up.

I surmise that my Spawns File is corrupt (?) The directions for the ORIF Utility states that the Spawns file must be copied/pasted as part of the operation. So, if that is the case, re-install from the Back-up or do a fresh install of ETO are my two options, correct?

Thanks for any feed-back....

You have to ne in the correct spawn configuration before you start a campaign otherwise, you may have isses. In which campaign mode do you have troubles?

Run "ETo Spawn Selector".

If you try "No Spawn Mode" or "Stock Spawn mode", there should be no issue.

Hey Zep,
I have problems in every campaign mode I try (after selecting the appropriate Spawn). If I select Option "1" or "2", then any of the QC flight modes, I have no problems. As I said before, everything goes well in campaign mode until the opposing A/C are "spawned", then CFS3 crashes.

Thanks for the response....

So, this is probably not a spawn problem, I can't help you much on this one, sorry.

Note that in QC, aircrafts are not spawned, they are part of the mission.

Do you also have the problem in single mission mode? Try one that uses spawns and another one that don't.

This still sound like an Era/Spawn Swapper compatability issue. I've pasted below a portion of one of Grizzly50's posts regarding the correct Era/Spawn combination. Perhaps it will help.

Era 1: Phoney War and Attack in the West '40

Era 2: None

Eras 3, 4, & 5: 1943, 1944, & 1945 ETO Campaigns

You should not use the Stock CFS3 campaign in ETO, as there will be problems.

Look at your ETO Spawn Selector screen. There are eight entries.

Entry 1, Stock Spawn Mode - Limits a/c to stock CFS3 planes.

Entry 2, Random Spawn Disable - To be used when playing missions.

Entry 3, Allied Side ETO - To be used by the Allied player in Eras 3, 4, & 5 when when 1943, 1944, & 1945 campaigns are played.

Entry 4, Axis Side ETO - Same as Entry 3, except it's for the Axis player.

Entry 5, Allied side Attack in the West Campaign - To be used when playing the Allied player in Era 1 during the Attack in the West Campaign.

Entry 6, Axis side Attack in the West Campaign - Same as Entry 5, except it's for the Axis player.

Entry 7, Allied Side Phoney War Campaign - To be used when playing the Allied side in Era 1 during the Attack in the West Campaign.

Entry 8, Axis Side Phoney War Campaign - Same as Enrty 7, except it's for the Axis player

Thanks for the input, guys...very helpful.

Any time I fly in any campaign, ETO crashes as soon as (and not until) opposing A/C are launched.

All other flight modes work fine...Mission, Dogfight, ect.

All this is my own damn fault. I neglected to perform a Backup of ETO immediately post install, so the backup I was using most likely was hosed. AND....

I installed Campaigns/Missions to the ETO install and did NOT test fly after each. I know better, but got in a hurry.:173go1:

I think a clean install of ETO is the best course of action at this time....
