ETO V1.40 plus

hobby

Members +
I have just spent 4 hours installing ETOv1.40 from scratch beginning with ETOv10, then adding v1.20 before beginning to instalv1.40. Once done I referred to 'final notes' and noticed that I had to remove the 'unlimited pilots.xml' - I did that but held it in my system 'Recycle' box.
The 'final note' indicated that the UP.xml would re-write when v1.40 was run the next time. That did not happen for I was greeted with the notice thatr the program 'had a missing or corrupt' UP.xml. Returning the UP.xml from my Recycling box to its position enable v1.40 to operate. I have only had time for a short test flight so have not had time to discover whether the extra pilots appear in my 1.40 installation.

Should v1.40 have re-written the 'unlimited pilots.xml'? Please advise.

No matter which version of CFS3 one runs, I must emphasize at this point that I am a 'newbie' to CFS3, all versions seem to require Disk 1 of the program to be inserted into one's computer. Many years ago a ery clever soul produced a little "No CD" file for FS9. Has anyone made a "No CD" for CFS3? If this has been done could a forum user please tell me where I can download such a file for CFS3?

Another irritation is the starting video and music - I have taken steps to ensure that my base CFS3 program does not play that video and music prior to starting to fly. Similarly I have not put into v1.40 the era music - Does anyone else do that or am I in the minority on that aspect of Flight Sims?

Any no-cd patch is not discussed here - you'll find that is one of the conditions of posting here.

If you truly hate the music, by all means remove it. One of the great things about CFS3 is it can be endlessly customised.

And welcome to the madhouse!!!

Oh bloody 'ell! (Runs for cover before the Mods see this thread!)

That's the fastest way to get thrown off this forum! Which would be silly...

Meanwhile, as Tom says, there's very little that can't be modified; the music is simple - you can turn it off or replace it completely.

i just added this 1.40 and all works like a charm at first i did losse my zapper but replaced it from beaus site rebooted and bingo all works great

excellent missions and well done

Sincerely regret any offence caused, and I made it quite clear that I was a 'newbie', just starting out in CFS3 having spent the past 15 yrs using FS98,FS2K2 and FS9.

Also regret that I cannot select any of the extra aircraft, missions or pilots in V1.40. I can apparently select only the original CFG3 acft. although all the eras can be selected. Obviously I have done something wrong and would be grateful for assistance.

Thanks for policing yourself guys. As stated there will be no discussion about no-cd stuff within
the public forums. Thanks, the wonderful, caring and oh so sensitive management....

hobby............start over, clean install of CFS3 patched to 3.1a....and you should be good to go. ETO 1.4's a self installer with a bullet proof set of directions..you have to install the updates in order...veer sideways without complete confidence in what you're doing is an invitation to disaster.....once you've your feet under you the world's your oyster. Tried sashaying sideways myself...after 15 years of following this stuff and I had my ass handed to me. The stickies are an encyclopedia of how to NOT make mistakes.....well worth reading and absorbing......beam back in here for clarifications....and I'll probably confuse the issue.....good luck

Just about to start to instal whole ETO up to V1.40 again.

Thanks 'Hairyspin' for the pointer for the guide to installing ETO. I know that eventually all will be well.

Success at last!!! Well I think so. Just exploring at present, obviously lots to discover. Thanks to those who gave good advice.
