I cannot find the xbp.japan ifrastructure noted in his install readme so I assume the xbp.japan2006 replaced it.

The Eurotarget packages are well worth the effort and all of these required addons should be default in a good CFS 2 installation. They cover 95% of most scenery addons.

Scenery Objects

Hi Rami,

In order to simplify things, do you think it's worth re-uploading each author's multiple scenery packages as a single .zip file for each author? In other words, for example, all Wolfi's objects would be contained in one single file.

Kdriver,

That's actually a damn good idea! I'll send him a PM and see what we can do. I would only do this for situations where there are multiples in a series...i.e. Wolfi's library objects, vehicles, etc.

Hey guys. Just tryig to follwing readme instructions.

I know you know this: Ettico's instructions in Eurotargets 2 says to have Eurotargets(1) installed before installing #2 and #4 says to install 1,2 & 3 before installing it. Also the instructions say to install ALL the infrastructure of the listed authors! I am still learning but I thought that might be much!

Rami's list here is much more specific and includes some additional D/L. I have all the authors installs ready just was not sure of the xbp.japan listed in Ettico's Eurotargets readme.

I really do appreciate all the help I get and trying not to be too much of a pest.

I went through every single layout of ALL of the EuroTargets (package one thru six) and compiled the list I created above for you. What the EuroTargets require I listed above. Nothing else is required.

What you want to do is create a EuroTargets folder. Place all the .bgl files in packages one through six in the EuroTargets\scenery folder, and all of the bitmaps (.bmp files) in the EuroTargets\texture folder.

Install the objects listed above, then install the GSL files found in packages three through six. Then, install the scenery folder. That should do it.

Don't forget to add the airfield data entries in your airbases.dat file in your Info folder.

Example:

By doing so, you will be able to see and locate all of the Euro targets in your mission building window and can set your mission waypoints accordingly.

Why not a huge file containing everything?

Guys, after experiencing my second break-down I got tired of finding and reinstalling all those objects. So I put all in one single, huge folder called "objects for any new install". When the time come, where I need it, I simply put the contents of the folders into "info" "ObjDP" etc. and of course there is also a huge "add to MDL-names" containing it all. Here is my suggestion: We could have such a file in our library, which the gurus making all the objects can add to, and when one has added, he simply re-name it "ver.1.1" if small changes, or in case Wolfi makes something quite new (or the sub-pens or thinks that big) rename it 2.0 etc. Just a suggestion. We even could have theaterspecific folders with just the objects needed for that theater, like Europe, Far east, eastern front, even though that means a lot of things will have to appear in all the folders.

Consolidated files

I have done a similar consolidation of library add ons. I have one for each theater and one each for the 1950s and 1960s and for WW I. Once consolidated, I zip them up and save them both; not only in my hard drive, but also on my back up devices. If an install goes bad, I can just unzip the one I need and install the replacement theater or era and be up and flying in only a few minutes.

As Finn notes above, it also makes adding resource intensive add ons much easier. I have a consolidated weapons file, library objects file and finally a ships file with both ETO and PTO sections.

That would require constant upkeep, and with four kids I don't have the time to manage it. I can handle consolidating a few packages here and there, but let's not get carried away.

So it sounds like Jagd has the most complete and best organized selection of all of these objects - so how about it Dave - with the author's permissions, how feasible would it be for you to upload zip files of these collections? I think that would be nothing short of tremendous for the whole community. Future updates would be totally optional. Even if it were never updated, we'd have a 99% solution close at hand after a disaster. Just sayin'.

These files are huge, even zipped up and as Rami pointed out, they require constant updating. In fact, mine are quite out of date due to my recent deployment of a year and a half.

I am getting them back up to date slowly but surely though. Perhaps when I get through with the MB update, I can devote some time to the project.
