Eurw - Thames River extenstion.

To all,

I just uploaded the Thames River extension, created by Simonu, for Sander's Roads, Rivers, Rails, and Lakes. These are designed to use Sander's preexisting textures, so all you need to do is place the two .bgl files in your Eurw\scenery folder.

Have fun! :bananapowerslide:

Darn....

...it's not in the download queue yet.......I could use a wide-band connection right now......anyway:

THANK YOU, RAMI!
:applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:

Cheers!
KH :ernae:

Kelti,

Don't get too excited, it's only 68kb. Just a couple of .bgl files. :caked:

I've got nothing. Nothing, I tell you. I removed the filelist and SdC's London bgl's and textures, dropped in the new Thames bgl's, and now I've got nothing. Just blank squares where the Thames used to be. I have no idea what has transpired.

OK, now I've put Sander's stuff back in and deleted the filelist again. The new Thames bgl's are still there. And I've still got nothing. Nada. Zippo. Just blank squares. That's with not one, but two Thames sceneries installed.

I feel like a victim of Bernie Madoff.

OK, now I've removed the new Thames bgl's and once again deleted the filelist. And now I've got Sander's stuff back again. Which is OK for me, but I have no way of knowing if Sander's Thames is in exactly the same place as the new Thames. So if I build any Eurotargets for the new Thames, I don't know if they will fit.

...and then the fireman rushes in from the pouring rain
Very strange...

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes
There beneath the blue suburban skies
I sit, and meanwhile back..

At Penny Lane there is a river like a photograph
Concatenated at the West end of the town
And now I'm feeling rather like a clown
I am anyway
Very strange...

Ettico,

Did you place them in the Eurw\scenery folder?

The two .bgl files should be in his Roads, rivers, and lakes folder.

The only thing I can think of is that there might be missing textures, but we went over that before I uploaded it. Let me check...

Do you have these texture files in your Eurw\texture folder?

rbankNPsu.bmp, roadssu.bmp, VRbankSU.bmp

Hi Rami. Iz you da fireman?

No, I'm not drunk or stoned. I don't know what's wrong with me. I've been this way all day.

Yep, I put them in the Eurw/scenery folder. And all of Sander's textures are in the textures folder. You're right, it's usually missing textures that cause the blank squares. What I really don't understand is, I tried it with both the new Thames bgl's and Sander's bgl's installed, and still got blank squares. Then I removed the new bgl's and Sander's stuff reappeared. I don't get it.

What? Do I have rbankNPsu.bmp in my texture folder? Of course not. All I have is Sander's textures in there. If I had rbankNPsu.bmp in there, the new stuff would probably show up. OK, now I'll try renaming a river bank bmp to that moniker. And no doubt the new scenery will majically appear.

Ettico,

Please check to make sure you have those three specific bitmaps in your Eurw\texture folder.

Ettico,

I think you'll find this will solve your issue. This was my goof, not yours. Sorry about that! :redf:

Take these two files, delete the .txt extension, unzip as normal, and place this bitmap in your Eurw\texture folder.

There might be one other texture you may need, but I'm not sure. Let me know if that fixes it.

OK Rami, that did it.:ernae:

Now the Thames goes all the way through and ties in to a stream west of London, like it should.

Something is still wierd though. When I downloaded your files, I didn't get BMP's. I got text. Wierd text. I just renamed the appropriate files instead.

That's because we can't attach .zip files to a post. I had to add the extension.txt to my .zip files so that I could place them in my post. That's why I said to delete the .txt extension so that you could unzip them.

In that case, I give up. It's gonna be like this all day long. One of these days I'm going to figure out how to delete that second extension, but right now I don't have a clue. And my computer is no help. It "knows" about the second extension and displays it in "details" mode, but refuses to offer it up for editing.

No problem though. I found the called-for BMP's in my FS2002 install. Proof positive that redundancy and persistence trumps ignorance.

Ettico,
I may be misunderstanding what you said in your last post, but just in case,,,,,,,
To change the file extension put your cursor on the downloaded file and right click. From the menu select "rename", then type in the name you want followed by a "." and then type "zip". So, "PennyLane.zip.txt" becomes "PennyLane.zip". Hope this helps.

Hi Ravenna,

Thanks for trying, but my computer won't offer up "PennyLane.zip.txt" for editing. It will only offer up "PennyLane.zip"

In "details" mode, it shows the file as a text file, so it knows it is a text file. But it apparently doesn't want me to edit the hallowed and revered file type.

No, it's XP - as in Xtry Persnickety.

Ettico, you probably have the file extensions in your system configuration hidden. That's quite simple to solve:

-Open the Explorer
-In the Tools menu select Folder options
-Press in the View section and then look for something like "hide extensions of known files". It is probably marked, then unmark it.
-That's it. You should now see all files extensions, and also be able to rename them as you please.
