• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Excellent B-17 Website

Thanks Milton. Wonderful sight on the Fortress. Seeing that the hapless Bears aren't playing today,...this will fill the void.

RE: Name of reporter who coined the name "Flying Fortress"

Just learned something from the link on the B-17. Over the years I've read about 'some' local reporter who gave the name "Flying Fortress' to the B-17. But I never came across his name. It's revealed to be a Richard Williams for the Seattle Times.
Here's a belated one to you Richard::ernae:

Hmmmm, one has to wonder why the uber talented Mr. Shupe is poking around in a B-17 website.:d

Hobbs, huh? I was there once (1978) on a Trans Texas Convair. I was returning from Carlsbad (Caverns) and the flight stopped at Hobbs and Clovis, before taking me to Albuquerque.

Well, now that I know you reside at Hobbs, I'll wave to you on my semi-annual jaunts between KDFW and KTUS. :wavey:
