External views are choppy.

I am sure this has been addressed before but I am too lazy to search:kilroy:.

I can say I have tweaked my install to perform as best as possible under DX9 using Nick Needhams guide to the letter as well as his suggested Nhancer profile and I'm very happy with what I see and how it works. I also use the external fps limiter with good results.

The problem I have is that my external views are going back and forth. It's not stutter, just the POV seems not to be steady and going back and forth. Any ideas?

This was not the case when I was using DX10 but my eyes hurt too much from the flickering taxiways.

Thanks in advance!

If by choppy you mean little micro jumps I have been trying to cure them for a long time. The Buffer pools tweak worked for me and a value of 400000000 was the best compromise. It depends on your videocard memory as much as anything.
In the FsX.cfg:

[BUFFERPOOLS]
PoolSize=400000000

My specs:
SYSTEM :
OS:Vista Home premium 32 bit (labotomised).
DX version:Dx9c and Dx10.
Processor:Q6600 (SLACR) processor overclocked to 3.3 gHz with Zalman cpu fan.
Motherboard:Asus Maximus Extreme.
RAM:4096 mb DDR3 1.6 gHz.
Video Card:GF8800GTX core clock overclocked to 612 mHz. Memory clock to 1000 mHz.
Monitor/Resolution: SyncMaster 920N LCD. 1280 x 1024 (32 bit 60Hz)
Sound: SoundMax Blackhawk (AMD).

Thanks Roger. Actually it is more of the plane jumping fore and aft quite considerably.

I do not have a very strong vid card, a 9600GT512. According to Nick I set up bufferpools at 150000000, the max for 512 cards according to him. I did not try higher values but maybe I will.

Any other hints?

If it's during replays - change to locked-spot, then the view doesn't occilate
If it's during actual flight - haven't a clue :kilroy:

Wasn't Dx10 great for smooth flights with good frame rates? Since FsXI isn't coming along now I decided to go back to Dx9 and had to cure all those little problems especially the micro jumps.
I feel it maybe the video card that's letting you down. Post your system specs including OS and let's see what else might be giving problems.

My sentiments exactly! I tried to stick to DX10 hoping for a solution to the flickering but since it never came I took the plunge and configured my install according to Nick's tricks and it's working quite well, except for this of course.

My specs are:

Q6600 Oc'd to 3.0Ghz on stock cooler
Nvidia GeForce 9600GT 512 with 182.06 drivers
4GB RAM DDR2 667
2x650GB Sata HDD
Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
FSX SP2 + UTX Europe + REX(using only 1024 clouds)

The main problem for me was the micro jumps and only in spot view. However I still get the odd stutter when panning and I suppose I'll just live with it until I can afford to put in a faster processor and update the video card.
Lack of smooth panning seems to vary day to day without any logical reason. There is so much to try in the cfg and in the Nvidia control panel/nhancer in fact there are too many variables to play with, lol.

just a shot in the dark, have you tried disableing aircraft self shadowing in the options? that causes mine to stutter like crazy, please ignore if you've tried allread :)

Texture-Multi_Bandwidth is the tweak for looking outside and getting stutters....

Many rigs don't need or use very well BufferPools....

increase the bandwidth_multi setting to 60, 70, 80, maybe even 110...Be fair...Fly it for a while , as FSX gets better with time in flight usually....Just do one or the other..not both tweaks at once...
