F-35B Sea Trials

Trials were closer to a year ago now. (EDIT: October 2011)
That video was posted by Lockheed Martin back in November.
Think it was in Newshawks around that time.

Still relevant though with Dino's recent re-release of his F-35, and always worth the second look.
(Or about 18th look in my case)

I got this video today in an e-mail and thought I would share it. The e-mail says these trials were held about six weeks ago aboard the USS Wasp off Newport News, Virginia. Don't remember seeing this mentioned in here so I thought I would post it.

According to Youtube this video was already uploaded in Nov 2011; I know I had seen it before :)

But thanks for posting it again; looking at it again, it clearly demonstrates two small inaccuracies of my STO function in Dino's F35B
1. Accelleration from 0 to takeoff speed is higher then what I assumed and implemented.
2. When the pilot pulls on the stick at takeoff speed, the nozzle should rotate more vertical instead of less. Seems very logical, thinking about it again :icon_lol:

Very easy to correct; in fact I already did for myself.
But I don't want do an update upload for every small improvement; will do in time, if Dino approves as well (no problem, I guess).

Although I strongly doubt that a real F35B will ever land on the Helo platform of a Cruiser; and certainly not approaching straight from behind.
Far too risky ..

Besides that, what would it do on a cruiser ??? Get a fresh coffee ?? :icon_lol:

I liked the video of this new jet and as I watched it launch off the deck of the USS Wasp, I noticed that there is this raised panel just aft of the cockpit. Now I suppose it had to be
raised as there is some sort of engine (intake/exhaust) action going on there but with that raised panel, it looked almost like it was acting as a speed brake and would slow the
airspeed somewhat. Ahhh.....cutting edge technology.

One segment of the video shows a quick close-up of the clamshell panel opening, you can catch a quick glimpse of the turbo fan blades, which provides the vertical lift for the jet. Considering that not only is that door open but also the exhaust is deployed downward, there's a lot that should slow the airplane down, but in this case, with this jet. . .it's a whole different world.:salute:

Reminds me of the X-Wings in Star Wars, how they could hover before take-off. How have we been able to get along without this for all this time??

This has been my first time I get close to the F-35, since this plane never interested me. Sorry to say to the devoted to it but yes, it is really really ugly.
