That profile of the USS Taussig DD746 is after she was given the FRAM II treatment. That was post-WW2. If you look aft on the fantail , you will see a apparatus that was called a VDS (Variable Depth Sonar) winch system and the sonar dome is too large for the sonar that was in use in WW2. In addition in wartime the Sumners' bristled with 20 MM's . Those FRAM ( I think the acronym was for Fleet Repair and Modernization) mods were done around the early to mid 1960's.
I rode a Tin Can of this class for several years. (side note; You don't serve on a destroyer you ride it!!!:adoration:)
Just my picky two cents!

Thanks for the information...

I just did a profile for the sake of artistry... never adduced it to be in a particular period of its history... lol (never meant this is what it looked like in WW2!)
Nonetheless, it is nice to know facts about these ships... I will look up some line drawing of the WW2 type of this class bristling with 20mm AAs... it will make a nice subject..

Cheers,
G.

P.S: looked up those sites you mentioned... but the photos are too poor to tell what is what and reproduce it... line drawings are a better source... Thanks anyway...

Gaucho..

I linked those sites so that you could have a visual as to what they looked like in their original config. There is a site I once had, would have to relook for it) that had the original line drawings publicly avail. If I find it again I will send it your way.:wavey:

other resources

Not much available showing the Taussig in WW2 configuration. It seems like with the war over just after she was commissioned a number of
mod were added. Unless you focus on the lead ship the USS Summer as your model for WW2 configuration.

Wow!
I am looking forward to putting this into the Fireflies for BPF!
NICE work.

Large and hi-def enough to be cropped as wished... as is... or without gunsight and
the same in separate bmp to be "popped out" when engaging targets... same for control column...
