We get real time coverage around 18:00 so I'll be watching with my younger brother.
Junk Food time .......:173go1:
I remain highly impressed with Petrov, and I'm beginning to regard Kobayashi as better than I (just me, myself) expected.
Shame Peter sauber can't put a top level driver in the other car.
"Herrmann" outqualified by Nico and out of the top 10 again!!

The top 4 could be entertaining, provided they all make it round the first lap.

You may remember Perez finished 7th, one place ahead of Kobayashi in Australia, and did a one-stop race, something Pirelli said was impossible?

Tomorrow's race will be at least a two stop race, but most likely a three stopper. The soft tires last for about eight laps when they've been used in qualifying. The difference between a used hard tire and a new soft tire can be up to ten seconds a lap so we'll probably see some interesting strategies!

Ferrari/Renault, Ferrari/Renault

That Renault chassis must be some bit of work, I don't really see Heidfeld/Petrov in the same league as the Ferrari drivers.
We also get it live from 20:00, so hamburgers at the ready, and look forward to an interesting race.
Agreed, lots of scope for good strategy to win this one.

6pm...that's a respectable hour of the day. Might as well make the most of it before the late night vigils when they begin the European rounds.:australia:

Don't these new Pirelli tyres dump a heap of junk on the track....makes a wide track into a narrow one pretty quick.

Two of the brightest stars F1 has seen - I probably should not do this, but...

2nd place Button summed it up nicely: "A confusing race".
Heidfeld in 3rd!
It's a shame Kubica isn't in a Renault this year.

Biggest loser: Hamilton in 7th, although Alonso should've done better than 6th, too.

'sOkay..they pick it all up again at the end of the race, on their way back to the weigh-in!

was a good race overall, i just loved the 'Rudderless Russian' on lap 52 (ish)...

boy was it a confusing race though... i get up to make a tea, come back and somethings changed majorly! well done Vettel, Button and Heidfeld... well raced!

yeah they shed about 3kgs of rubber per tyre set i think and to make the weigh in and not be under the weight req's they pick it back up :icon_lol:

Very impressive run by Button, smooth and calm.

Vettel......meh!

And if Heidfeld can keep up this form I might just revise my opinion of him.
Good racing (for a change) down the grid, Kobayashi, Di Resta and Perez had a decent go, and I just love seeing Michael Schumacher getting a short back and sides from assorted 'mid-field' runners.
:jump:

Let's not overlook Webber's effort, no KERS (what a bloody waste of space) and four stops, he deserved a podium but so did Heidfeld.
:applause:

I missed everything, the F-1 race, Texas... Had to attend a wedding in Mooresville, NC. Got wasted, had two DDs, why not! :ernae:

I'm wasted today and SPEED is replaying the event at 2:30 PM. However, if this crappo weather ever clears, I'm heading to VIR where they're having the Vintage races this weekend.

Caz, waiting on Spring...

That would be right Ed!!
I suppose it would be too much for these dickwits to take a step back and look at the so-called 'charges' as simply being good hard fought racing by two deadly rivals.

While I agree - I also have to recollect from something I read last year.....And it essentially said that today's cars are so "safe", that drivers are doing things to other drivers that "back in the days of danger", wouldn't even have been comtemplated....

While I agree - I also have to recollect from something I read last year.....And it essentially said that today's cars are so "safe", that drivers are doing things to other drivers that "back in the days of danger", wouldn't even have been comtemplated....

And there lies the entire problem I have with the present generation of 'racers'.
Because the 'safety' issue has become the single dominant feature since Senna died (lot of broken rice bowls as a result) and the public wring their hands and wail at a hint of danger, the cars are simply too 'safe' and the drivers have no respect for 'danger'.
These days the slower cars move over to avoid a drive through, a time penalty and (usually) a huge fine.
I was once asked how to 'repair' Formula 1 several years ago, I was only being half serious but up to a point I mean't what I said ......."Kill off three drivers each year!"
Now, I am not really as extreme as that but I feel that drivers should be aware of their own mortality and respect the possibility of serious injury or death if they are undisciplined or stupid within themselves.
One of the reasons I have such a high regard for the 'Bike Brigade', if you fall off you generally suffer pain and often break bones, while in the ulimate test at the IOM if you really screw up you die!
I am not one who is advocating a return to the days of no seat belts and Herbie Johnson 'helmets', but it should carry enough risk (Motor Racing in general) that drivers know they can't getaway with stupidity unscathed.
I'll get 'orf me soapbox and take me medication straight away!

Good result although the overabundance of commercials on SPEED TV is killing the enjoyment for me. I have to go now, I have this overwhelming urge to ArmourAll the car, get some new Goodyears and munch on some Hamburger Helper (yukkkk - does anyone truly like that stuff?)

I only have one major problem with the charging at each other through corners thing...that being that these are supposed to be the best 'open wheeler' drivers in the world, they are not dodgem cars.:kilroy:

I dredge this up only to comment that with Lotus Renault, I qualified in F1 2011 for the xbox to have landed a 17th place qual - quite close to real life times for the same car. interesting...
