I am speechless....I am without speech.....jaw-dropping nice ! This one is a keeper, or would that be a "getter"?? Either way, it's good stuff!

You seem to have the facts right pretty good re the aircraft, why not get the facts right about the men that flew it too ! I've said it before in another thread about the Panther, Navy pilots didn't wear no friggin P-4 helmets ! Dang it ! ( sorry...:d)

Panther and Cougar pilots wore H-3/4 helmets with inner cloth helmet and integrated B-8 goggles like good old William Holden is wearing here as Lt. Harry Brubaker in 'The Bridges at Toko-Ri' :

P4 helmets were in use alright during that era but only by the USAF, certainly NOT by the Navy and Marines.

Hey, i'm only trying to help.... If you leave your pilot figure like that it'll be one nasty scratch on your otherwise immaculate looking Panther model, atleast to simmers like me with a particular love for early jet fighters and utmost respect for the men that flew them.

Navy/Marines pilots wear Navy/Marines equippement, USAF pilots wear USAF equippement. It's been like that since the early days and it still is.

Otherwise my H-4 helmet is off to you for this very fine looking Panther model. Looking forward to the Cougar with as much anticipation ! :salute:

Just as a point of interest concerning The Bridges at Toko-Ri, in the novel by James Michener the aircraft flown by Brubaker was the McDonnell F2H Banshee.

And I think Javis is right...its a great model, so why not get it spot on with the pilot's helmet too ?

Roger that, Noddy. There's a post from Dean at the Vertigo forum saying that the pilot figure is in the works... Fingers crossed... Hope they'll get the O2 mask and live vest right too ( just kidding.. :p: )
 
Last week I wastalking to one of my first officers and he had flown the Mig 21, which being single seat, the first flight is a solo.

Sunday, one of my FO's had flown (extensively) the F9F Cougar, which was still used by the Navy as a trainer into the 70's. His comment? Slow to spool.

WoW!! My first look at this! Very excited to see this coming down the pipeline.

Also I see over @ Vertigo... Big E!!!! As an ol naval ship builder I am excited to see the details in this.:jump:
 
Wasn't sure I was going to get this, only a passing interest in the Panther, but those sounds have sold me, the nuances of sound make or break the suspension of disbelief in simulation, an area all too often ignored or poorly done.
