• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

The worlds oldest man,Henry Allingham, and last man STANDING from WW11 has died.He was 113 years of age.He was born in Clapton, east London,in1896.This man lived through 3 centuries, and the hell of war.I think his rest is deserved, and his respect undoubted.A true hero.bless you,and thank you Henry Allingham.

He was also such a nice guy, Watch the last Tommy made a few years ago about WWI veterans. There is one left, Harry patch, after him there will be none,

I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Mr. Allingham when I was at RAF Duxford several years ago, he was an incredibly gracious gentleman & actually funny as hell. I got to talk powerplant mechanics with him for two whole hours. He gave me some incredible insights on early aviation & as one of my jobs is restoring WWII radial aircraft powerplants it was incredibly enlightening, not to mention delightful.

May God keep him & reunite him with those he lost in the Great War & beyond

P.S. If anyone ever wishes to read a fantastic book about WWI look in bookstores for "To The Last Man" by Jeff Shaara. Two of the first person accounts are from Raoul Lufberry of the Lafayette Escradrille & Manfred Von Richtofen
