Falcon 4 reinvigorated

Thank you for the heads up on falcon4. I am going to give it a try after setting in a closet for five years.

My spouse said she was a computer widow five years ago. Fsx is the only simulator game I use now and that is down to less than a hour a month.

I have the original Falcon 4, hardbound manual and all. I'll have to look into this some more. Thanks for the heads up Naismith.

Just watched the video and WOW.... what an improvement that is. F4 AF is nowhere close to this. Seems it was said it couldn't be done but BMS sure has done it. :)

I cannot believe the lack of comment on this announcement, is the sim so old that people don't remember it? Or could it be that folks have dumped the original CD int the dim and distant past and are now in the depths of despair in the realisation that the greatest military sim in all time has been reborn. :salute:

I remember it, but never was that fond of it. Different strokes and all.

Willy, the graphics weren't all the great in the original. Remember, it came out in Dec of 98. And graphics cards were kinda dismal back then too. Anything is a great improvement.

These days I'd think F4 would be kinda difficult to find, especially that manual they had. Glad I kept mine.

Actually I got really excited about the thread when I saw the title.

Then I opened it up and my hopes went to the dumps when I saw that it was one of the BMS/FF versions. Although I think F4, specially the F4-AF version still ranks as the #1 flight combat sim ever done, I was never a fan of the BMS/FF split offs. Not because I didn't think they were well done, it's just a personal taste.

Truth be told, if it wasn't for the issue of F4-AF not working with the newer Nvidia drivers it would still be on my HD and racking up lots of flight hours.

I was actually thinking about re-installing it yet another time this last weekend to see if I could figure out an Nvidia settings cure, but then decided not to. Been there done one too many times in the quest to try out one more posted fix that doesn't actually work.

I've still got the hardbound spiral in showroom condition, with the Prima Strat Guide and my copy of F4-AF. These will be the very last flight simulation copies I ever part with. That'll be when I finally come to terms with the fact that it just won't work anymore unless I purpose build an older system or somebody finds the Nvida trick that actually works.

I still have my manual for F4 along with the manuals from the Aces series like Aces of the Pacific. Wasn't it great when games came with nice big fat manuals!!! Miss those days.

Awesome work, love the improvements and it runs beautifully on Windows 7 64bit.. The motion is so fluid!
