I was surfing through the BBC Radio shows available on the net earlier and came across a show that I have not heard before. It's a sitcom based in a small airline company with more than a few problems!

A radio show like this must bring back memories to those from back before the start of television.
 
I hate that there are only a very select few around me that "get" British comedy... It is hands down funnier than just about anything offered here in the states...

That's because the Brits understand and enjoy farce, Americans have to have vulgar comedy, especially if it plays off of sex.

Personally I enjoy British humor for its sarcasm and most times sarcasm and farce go totally over the head of an American listener.

For those that enjoyed it I should point out that the episode above is part 1 of 6 so that means there are still 5 more episodes to enjoy at a rate of 1 per week. Each episode will be available for one week as part of the 'Listen Again' online feature of BBC Radio when it will be replaced by the latest episode (usually one day after it has aired 'live' on the radio).

Further research has just revealed that the series is in it's third year (how have I missed this gem up until now! :isadizzy: ) and all of the first series is available as an 'Audio Download' (like buying an online music album) for a very reasonable sum indeed. When I emigrated to Canada 17+ years ago I had a real hard time with people trying to understand me. A combination of a heavy, localized, English accent and a very dry and sarcastic sense of humour meant that many of the funny things I said were not even picked up by the listeners. Some even thought I was rude, ignorant and arrogant when all I was trying to do was to inject some Brit humour into the conversation.

For all those that love Brit humour Radio 4 does some excellent comedy shows and a wide variety of styles are available throughout the week. This link shows this week's current comedy picks on 'Listen Again'.....

I can highly recommend 'The Now Show' which takes a sarcastic look at news events in the past week.

If older, more classic, comedy is your style then BBC7 may be a goldmine for you. I listen to BBC7 every evening for 1-2 hours before bedtime as it helps me to unwind with a good belly-laugh. BBC7 is a station available on satellite radio and via the internet and plays Brit radio comedy shows going back more than 70 years. Benny Hill was a favorite too, along with Monty Python and Fawlty Towers. Boy I miss all three.... that was good Brit comedy too. But for pure enjoyment radio does the trick. Your mind fills in the blanks.

It sucks that all we can get on the TV over here is chopped up re-edited *******ized versions of the original show. Fortunately there are other ways of procuring it.

Sometimes I feel like I was born on the wrong continent, I honestly can't stand half of the documentaries on TV anymore after seeing James May's various series. Anyone see the 1:1 scale Airfix Spitfire he did on "Toy Stories"? :applause:

I don't know why, but I've always got British humor. As a kid my folks always remarked that I had a very odd sense of humor. Just a quirk I guess, but one I thoroughly enjoy.

Yup TC was one of a kind and somewhat misunderstood even by Brits who didn't 'get' his style of comedy.
