Fascinating Story of Lady Pilots in WW2*

Women pilots in the U.S. and Great Britain filled a vital role during the war, a role that is often overlooked.
 
They weren't Royal Air Force, they were technically aligned with BOAC & I think were promised employment after the war by BOAC. My Father became an ATA pilot at the end of '43 & amassed 32 different types, mainly singles with some 'light' twins - Oxbox & Auntie Annies. As an engineer he was assigned after WWII as a flight engineer with BOAC, & took part in Lancastian flights across the Atlantic testing the engines for the Avro Tudor.
Worth seeking out the ATA website & the Maidenhead museum (where I have placed his ATA logbook for safe keeping).
