favorite freeware turboliner?

hey dudes and dudeens,
I have been flying the ISDT and Castaner ATR-42 and 72 series, and comparing them with the Dash 8 series from dreamliners.

So far I see the Dash 8 as the winner in overall performance and 2d panel options.

Other faves on the subject of Kero Burnin' Prop Turnin' Long Haulers?
 
I'm quite fond of ISDT's ATRs. I also love Milton's Dash 7. Those are the only turboliners Ineed.

Mine would have to be the Lockheed L-188 Electra. This is the plane that introduced the turboprop to the civilian market. It had a shaky start in life with some structural problems, but once they were worked out, the aircraft became a success.

This was also Lockheed's big gamble that cost them. They threw the dice on the idea that the turboprop was going to be the "jet powered aircraft of the future on the civilian market." The gamble left Lockheed a few years behind Boeing, Convair (General Dynamics), and Douglas in introducing a pure jet liner for commercial use.

Even though the gamble did eventually pay off in a US Navy contract, because the Electra was the base for the P-3 Orion.

I just wish i could find one painted up in the 1950's American Airlines livery and the 1950's Eastern Airlines livery

I found the initial packages for this bird over a Cal Classic. They also have some great flight dynamics updates for her, and once you have them together, This becomes a hell of a bird to fly!!!
 
I like the Electra too. Just a beautiful plane. Wish it had a VC however. Downright shame that FS/KBT didn't make one for FS2004. I actually tried to set up the FSX version but it just didn't work out.
That said Milton's Dash-7 is another t-prop that absolutely rocks.:ernae:
 
My personal favourite still is Milton's Dash7 (and I guess no one will be surprised about my choice...)!

Very tight follower in this ranking is Rick Piper's "Screaming Hawker" HS.748/780 with its marvellous system depth.

Not really a "liner", unless you call surveillance patterns over water "lines"...

The Tu-114 is one of my favourites as well, though it needs an airfile update. The HS.748/780 are great aircraft too. Although it's not exactly a 'liner' I do like the FS KBT Orions a lot. They also did a great Electra but it's FsX only.
 
There are so many favorites, where do I start.

I will make a list of my favorites (all with VC):
1920s airliner: Handley Page 0/400 and Jabiru by Jens Kristensen (JBK)
1930s airliner: various Fokker trimotors and Condor by JBK, JU-52 by a german dude with excellent VC, JU-90 by Hawke Keitel, FW-200 Condor by Hawke Keitel
1940s airliner/cargo: C-46 Commando by Greg Piper, Convair twin piston and twin turbine lines from Calclassic, DC-4 version 2 by JBK, DC-6 from Calclassic
1950s airliner: Lockheed Constellation/Starliner by Manfred Jahn and friends, Bristol Brittania by JBK, deHavilland Comet by JBK, TU-114 by Samdim
1960s airliner: here we get into payware but Cap'n Sims 707 is only $10 US and is superb
1970s airliner: Boeing 727 freeware, Tu-154

Is this enough? I love 'em all. I am also a beginner in aircraft modeling with VC and one of my goals is to build a TU-104 Camel (world's 2nd jetliner) with VC. The trouble is I have no clue how to make appropriate gauges so i am going to copy stock gauges from FS2004 default aircraft. When I get it done, maybe someone could improve my model.

I could send you an updated TU-114 FM for the Samdim a/c if you like (My fav), the Rockwell Turbo Commander is pretty good also.

I know I have it on a disk somewhere, but I couldn't find it at Flightsim.com or Avsim.com anymore.
Maybe one day I'll reinstall the Tu-114/126 but I hardly use Fs9 anymore these days.
 
I forgot about the NAMC YS-11 by AFG. AFG created a winner, though it took the longest time for me to learn to start the engines and KEEP 'em running. If I'm not mistaken, I aliased sound to the Flight 1 ATR 72-500.

I agree with everything posted so far and add the Turbo Connie by Manfred Jahn.

Granted, it wasn't a commercial turboliner, but it's a great plane.
