FCS Aero Commander is big hit here!

FSX Acceleration!
Well its Christmas and pay day today for me, so I thought I'm treating myself lol. So I bought the FCS Pole to Pole addon not for the flights but for the aircraft the Aero Commander 680 and as I have not really seen any posts about it here I thought I'd give you a look at it! Just done some flying and here is the outcome! One or two issues, firstly the doors don't open on it, second effects such as water and snow spray on touchdown are non existent but to be honest I don't care there minor and its amazing to fly, really frame friendly and is gorgeous both in and out to look at!

I wish more people had this because I'd have loved more paints for it, but that looks unlikely to be honest!

It's FSX native, but I found a number of issues with it when I tried.

- Don't look out of the VC window at the engines. Or if you do, complaining is expected. ;)
- Gauges that should be backlit aren't and are only visible with the overhead light on at night (e.g. LED/LCD radio displays)
- The doors and ground effects have already been mentioned by Peter.
- At night, with the overhead light on, the reflections in the windows are so strong that you can't see outside!

Overall I found it fun to fly, but haven't installed it yet since switching computers. I should also say that I didn't buy it - I received an unsolicited copy of both that and the Lancaster through the post (despite Nick telling FCS that I had stopped reviewing... although I seem to have got dragged back into doing so, somehow!)

I got it this morning :wavey: and am pleased but she is a favorite aircraft of mine and I missed Milton's so much I gave her a try

a couple more things I found

prop RPM adjust not working correctly
cowl flaps not working
Airspeed indicator will not go passed 200 mph

and the already mentioned

ya she needs work but I like her too

Yeah all the above mentioned are ture but I still think its rather fun and well worth the money and yes I did get the discount lol!

i dont mind FCS aircraft, some of the detail in the latest models and texturing is quite nice both outside and vc

sadly i emailed them some time back about paint kits or templates

the reply i got was "easy use fs repaint" which for me is a fair bit of a let down

so i dont think there will be many paints for their birds, if not none, only the hard core painters with a tonne of spare time may make some

Its a shame about the repaints though, still at least there not nazi's and completely ban you from trying, thats one thing at least!

I can sort a paint kit out if required- it can partner the Lancaster PK when it is made available soon.

I think that would be very well received, Dan - it's a nice model that cries out for many repaints, particularly for the bush ops types and VAs.

Compared to the overall model, the issues I found with it are very minor indeed other than one, which I actually forgot to list before. It has prop pitch levers, but they don't do anything!

Overall though it's a nice model. Definitely worth picking up the pack. It'd be interesting to know whether anyone is currently doing or is planning to do the Pole to Pole trip?
