FCS Lancaster DOWNLOAD

Excellent job, Dan ! Wonderful to have the Lankie back in FSX ! :applause::ernae::applause:

Chiefy : Landinggear- , Flaps- and Boost Indicators are dead as a doornail. Can you have a look at that please ?? Thanks !

I'm also voting for a bit less glass reflection particularly re that yellow moon ( why was that round patch painted yellow anyway ? What was its function ? Any idea somebody ?... )

cheers,
jan

I figured out the landing gear, flaps and boost gauges need to have power switches turned on in the VC. The landing gear light switch is nestled at the top-center of the panel between the lights (a bit hard to see), the flaps gauge switch is way over near the oxygen gauges next to the fire warning switches and the boost coil switch is above the fourth boost gauge. That's the good news. However, the boost gauges don't go below zero when you throttle back even though they should go into the negative numbers (but they will go up to 22). Also, turning on the boost coil switch in the VC doesn't allow the 2D panel boost gauges to work.

Another switch issue I've noticed is the fuel tank switches don't seem to control the tanks they say they do. On the Mk. I (only) the Nav and VC lights don't come on (haven't checked the aircraft.cfg to see if it's missing light entries the others have just in case it's an easy fix). So, I'm compiling my list to forward to FCS support once I've finished exploring. It's a great looking plane that'll be all the nicer once the kinks are worked out.

Beautifully designed plane and textures. A great addon.

Was suprised to find internal shadows in the exquisite VC.

Disappointed that I've not found a bombay. I see I light to indicate if bombay is open but no switch to open it, if it exists on the model. The docs seem to accentuate the importance of the Lancs bombing role, so I'd expect at least a bombay and perhaps a view of some bombs within.

Try the rearmost silver handle on the port side of the pilot's seat. Very simple if you have trackIR, not so easy (I would imagine) without.

Hi,

On the left top side of the pilot's seat you will find a large level (with tooltip) to open and close the bay doors! And yes a bomb load is present and also the front gunner changes role and is now visible at his blister.

Enjoy,

Paul

Thanks delta and ftl818 for the bombay hints. Have trackir but have not been using it on my initial view of this wonderful plane. My brief look thru the docs did not unveil these controls. Perhaps I overlooked that too in what seems mimimal discussion of these special animations. shift-e and shift-e-2 does open a window and a door.

LOl - your not the only one! It took me 2 days to find the leaver as it is not documented - great product all the same :jump:

Yes, great aircraft, but the documentaion is sadly lacking.

Still, means a bit of investagative work on our part:jump:

I'll pass on your comments to those involved in the manual part of things.

Shift-e will open the pilot window (Exterior), shift-e-2 will open the entry door, and water rudder command will put a ladder up.

Dan.

Thanks Dan for the Ladder up command.

Nice wheel detail!!

Nice screen shots jimjones! It is a great looking model ~ lots of nice details.

Thanks for the key commands for the animations Dan.

To fix the Nav and cockpit lights on the Mk. Is, remove the extra [lights] header in the aircraft.cfg file. It's just above the second header and all the lights entries. I guess the first header with no entries under it causes the second set to be ignored.

Cheers,
Rick

From what I read, it looks that a great model has been a little comprimised by some rather shoddy 'packaging' at the end, not done by Dan.

Still, I am sure it is all fixable:applause:, any news on a paint kit????

Alright! ( hatsssjooo!! ) :blind: :redf: Thanks, Gunner ! ( funny Avro guys, why would anybody *not* want to keep en eye on their gear and flaps position... ? )

Yes, i see that too..... Also with RPM levers at 100% RPM gauge does not indicate anything over 3000 while throttles are still far from full power...

Did you notice the strange brakes behaviour ? Tut says on take-off to hit the toebrakes, gently apply power until full, than release brakes. She will not hold on the brakes though. She will start rolling even before half power is reached. The strange thing is that she *will* hold on the brakes at full power....

Hope you can take that along with your list too... ?

Bummer that only the external cockpit windows can be opened, not the internal..... bet in the summer that greenhouse will be like an oven....

Good fun nontheless ! :mixedsmi: ( checking out three other Lanc soundsuites )

cheers,
Jan

My pleasure Jan.

I hadn't noticed the brake behavior ... I'll have to do some more testing tonight. :)

I think the props are OK. The Pilot's Notes list them as "Hydromatic" with a governed range of 3000 rpm down to 1800 rpm.

Dan mentioned a patch is in the works so I'm sure these glitches will get ironed out. I sent FCS an email with the issues I've noticed so far. Hopefully others are too.

Sure is nice having a native FSX Lancaster.

Cheers,
Rick

Just finished watching a Lancaster special on History channel, very good doco on it.

This offering looks the part

Since those reflections are horrendous with the lights on at night, I'd like to play with modifying them. However, ImageTools, DXTBmp and Corel Paint Shop Pro all refuse to open the file LancR0.dds. What software is needed to work on the alpha?

Great tip, Rick ! Didn't expect to be able to read the Lancaster Pilot Notes just by Google'ing it.... :icon_eek: Jolly good, old chap ! :)

Loads up fine in DXTBmp here, Jim. Did you check 'Load DDS image' before selecting it ?..

Jan
