FCS Lancaster DOWNLOAD

Thanks Jan for letting me know that dxtbmp works. I had version 4.00.45 and was checking dds files before loading. That did not work. I've since downloaded 4.00.96 and it does open up the file.:jump:

I guess I am the only stupidhead that has not figured out how to open the bomb bay. Not much of a bomber "pilot" if I can't drop bombs.

Don't feel bad; took me a day to figure out how to open the bomb bay doors. At the lower left side of the pilot's seat in the VC you'll see two silver levers. The smaller of the two is the one that opens and closes the bomb bay doors (see the attached screenshot).

Cheers,
Rick

Does this Lancaster have 2D panels? I have an enclosed cockpit, and need to be able to use the gauges on other monitors.

If anyone also has the WOP B17, how does this compare to it in quality?

Thanks,
Bill

Well Boris the vc is very nicely done so it's a shame it's of no use to you. It does have a 2d pit but I haven't used it as I haven't used 2d panels since Fs2002, so I can't tell you about pop-up windows.
The modeling is extremely good and you wouldn't be disappointed in the quality compared to the WoP B17 as this was one of the first payware aircraft for SP2/Acceleration.

Thanks, Rick. Now I can go blow something up.

Well the "Moon" has gone (yellow headrest) in the reflections dds.

LancR0.dds is the file edited. It's in the B1 texture folder and I opened it with DXTBMP and edited it with Irfan view's paint dialogue box. If you want to reduce the other reflections then darkening the alpha channel will help.

I'm getting terrible stuttering with this aircraft, it makes my scenery crash and I'm stuck on whats causing it, anyone else found this aircraft effecting there system?

I removed most of the reflections as my taste is for clearer windows. Using an alpha of 32,32,32 for R,G,B was just about right for day, yet the yellow ball was still a bit visible. However at night the reflections was still a bit much. Using 7,7,7 (very dark) alpha worked well for me. However in day those settings made the reflections almost totally invisible. Surely very few, if no one else would like these settings.

This may demonstrate how widely our tastes differ from one another and how difficult it may be for a fix to be satisfactory to everyone. A great deal of effort went into setting up these reflections as is evident by looking at the LancR0.dds file. Sorry to not appreciate them as presented, but I'm happy to be able to modify the effect to better suit my views.

I just removed all signs of the yellow headrest from the dds using Irfanview.

That seems a much more difficult effort, but worth it if that is your only concern. The whole night reflection I thought was way too much, thus my changing of the entire alpha map.

wish I was lol, I can only fly her from places like diego garcia where there is no land and endless sea lol, I was dying to take her to germany but looks like I'll have to wait until I get my new system!

You read my mind , very authentic touch ! ......... are ya gonna share ??:jump:

If I can make a request,

My father's lancaster B1 had the "radar blind bombing system" on board . You could tell this a/c apart from the rest of the squadrons planes because they painted two yellow bands on the airplanes tail ...... pls pls .

Hello Aircanuck,

This can be done but detailed pictures (B&W is OK) are needed!

I can send you the modified dds files.
