Fess Up - Who do you have the most of?

Hi all,

16 Barclay James Harvest albums
13 Nektar albums.
All the Jethro Tull albums released
All the Pendragon albums released so far.About 9.

Buddha13

1) Offspring
2) REM
3) Jimmy Buffett

I have very eclectic tastes in music.

Don Williams has always been one of my favorites also. Continuing in that vein I'd include the Sons of the Pioneers and Marty Robbins.

Been thinking -- so many artists, though of the "most of" theme ...
Steppenwolf, Spirit, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Gentle Giant, Wishbone Ash, Trapeze, Captain Beyond, Johnny Winter, Savoy Brown, Weather Report, Jaco Pastorious, the Police and their solo careers, Marshall Crenshaw, Bourgeois/Tagg, Lee Ritenour, Crowded House, Paul Carrack, Pat Metheny, '80s melody and groove bands like Pleasure and Shalamar, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Hornsby, Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares, David Sanborn, Liz Phair, Shawn Colvin, Joe Henderson, Stevie Wonder, EWF, Bill Frisell, Isaac Stern, etc. ...
So many favorites and likes and loves ...
Lots of artists previously and these days -- Thought I'd post this very few of these that I hadn't seen mentioned ...
Not toward less; though of and of ...

Augh! Thread not die!
Also need to mention driving to Austin listening to Willie Nelson's "Red Headed Stranger" on eight - track cassette, then plugging one of the classic early Stanely Clark tapes; have a selection of orchestral and classical stuff but kind of let that slide after I took hiatus to trumpet playing; think I have pretty much all of the U2 recordings; most mid period Talking Heads and side projects; most early R.E.M and many later; lots of John Scofield, Lyle Mays and such; most of the later Bruce Springsteen, Don Henley and Paul Simon; countless recordings with favorite side players such as John Robinson, Marcus Miller, etc.; try to keep up with new artists at least with an occasional preemptive purchase and with "Jazz Times', "Rolling Stone" and talk shows, SNL, etc ...

I went back through my collection, and since I've figured out I own everything that Led Zepppelin ever did, plus a few covers from other artists, I guess they win....

Actually hadn't realized that until now.

According to my database...
The Who(42), Jimmy Buffet(33), The Beatles(31), Rush(27)
Steve Winwood (including Traffic & Spencer Davis Group)(18),
Led Zeppelin(15), Simon & Garfunkel together & separately(20)
Bob Marley and various Wailers(12) and nearly every album on which Eric Clapton has appeared(49). Tied for the highest quantity are The Rolling Stones(55) and John Mayall (55).
There are many I have not mentioned approaching a dozen. I should have a yard sale.

Tom,
Just as an aside, John Mayall lived in the same village I lived in from age 6 and at the edge of a farmer's field just down the road was his famous tree-house. I played drums with his younger, half-brother a couple of times:jump:.

When you spend 50+ years collecting albums, tapes & CDs gradually, you don't see the absurdity until you count them. In the mid-60's I jumped all over The Beatles, The Who & The Rolling Stones and a dozen other shorter lived bands but my Epiphany was when a friend returned from England with a 2 disk set called Bootleg Him by Alexis Korner & Friends. That changed my collecting habits so that among all those high volume artists I also have stuff by Juicy Lucy, Keef Hartley, Chicken Shack, Humble Pie, Chris Farlowe, Duster Bennett, Zoot Money and many other forgotten British "White Boy" Blues acts. It boggles the imagination.

Chicken Shack, by the way, had a piano player/vocalist named Christine Perfect who later married John McVie.

Oops, I left out Long John Baldry in the list above :) Got 9 albums by him.

Wow! That's cool. Alexis Korner may have been the "guv'nor" but John Mayall at 76 years old still ranks as my favorite.

Okay Tom, 'fess up.....

You and I are old enough to have been caught flat footed with a whole bunch of albums (you know, the vinyl kind), and had to transition to CD's....

Did they all make it? Or are you still policing up CD's twenty years later like me?:kilroy:

Oh yes, I have about 400 vinyl albums still in my possession. My son has a couple hundred of my vinyl albums as well. (I actually have a working turntable.) Probably another 200 cassette tapes. I gave away my 8-tracks long ago.

I have replaced whatever I could with CDs (+/- 1000) over the last few years.

All vinyl of Peter,Paul, and Mary. Mitchell Trio, Gordon Lightfoot, Kris Kristopherson, Mystic Moods, John Denver. Damn, I'm old!!

Ben

Beatles and the wife has all Elvis...

Followed by Skynard and Tull.....
