Fiat CR42 with DB601 engine

Thicko gave me a fine model of his DB601 engined Fiat CR42 fighter. It's ready, but I'm suffering some CTD caused by its DP. I modified one of the skins avaiable in the package, very similar to the one used by the prototype built. Have the CR42 DP a fix? With my modified airfile I clocked, as the real think, 320MPH! Fast for a biplane!

Cheers

A CR-42 with a DB 601. I didn't know that had ever been done. Maybe they should have dropped a Merlin into a Gladiator.

Make sure that the CR42 and the CF42 with the BD engine do not have DP files with the same name....CFS2 does not like having DP files with the same name used in separate aircraft.

If the regular CR42 has a DP file called CR42.DP, then the inline CR42 should have something like CR42a, CR42inline or something like that.

Of course, you will also have to rename the air file to match and adjust the Sim= line in the aircraft config file to match as well.

They don't have the same name...

Experimental configurations included the I.CR.42 and the CR.42B, an attempt to improve the type's performance by installing a Daimler-Benz DB601A in-line engine of 1,010 hp.Although this variant reached a top speed of 323 mph (518 km/h), the project was cancelled as the biplane configuration did not offer any advantages over contemporary fighter designs.

Aircraft is ready

I'm packing the plane. Unhappily, I could not use Thicko's DP and have to create a new one. It uses original CR.42 panel. I shangainazed a Morton skin to use as a basis to the prototype painting. It flies beutifully.

Cheers
