Final FSX J35 Draken Release(Freeware)

It's an excellent iteration of the model. The Developer explained there were some compromises in the VC the most obvious being the upper section of the control stick was removed (I guess due to graphics and visual obstruction reasons?). There are some minor bugs but in general, the model looks and flies great.
 
This concerns me slightly. In his blog he states:

I now feel that the Draken project has reached its logical end. After the Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise was discontinued I have gradually lost interest in flightsimming in general, and add-on development in particular, and I no longer have the time or energy to keep a full-scale web community running. And so I have decided to close shop.

Very nice model! But, very diffcult to handle. Stalls very easy with mutch AoA (The real plane appears to be this way) and the foreign language is a barrier for me now. But has many instruments modeled and a very good manual that has to be read.

Also, i´m not getting any visual effects like AB, condensation, etc... but i confirmed that the .fx files are all there. Anyone else getting this?
 
It´s a difficult plane to fly, the developer made it as close as possible to the real thing.It´s definitely a Draken´s fan add on.Lot´s of reading to do and some understandings, IMHO not for the casual simmer.It´s a great rendition.
I gave up in the previous iteration, but i downloaded final version just because it´s a really good add on.

I am getting AB, Smoke, Condensation, and a parachute on landing when I hit the flaps. It seems extremely easy to fly. The drop tanks came off in flight and you can see them fall away.
 
Yes, found the problem! My throttle joystick don´t go on AB in this plane. I must hit shift+f4 to see the burn and smoke. Thanks.

A friend of mine is pilot in the Austrian Airforce.He recently moved from Draken-to F-5 E- to Eurofighter and he commented yesterday that it fly's as close as possible in FS( one calculated lift point !!) to reality.

This is not an easy plane to fly and has Zero electonic help for the pilot

The flight dynamics seem to be very close to what I've read or heard from real Draken Pilots. The real plane had a lot of "Coffin Corners" in it's flight envelope but if handled properly, those corners were rarely encountered. I would say that flight simmers who are not familiar with or have a feel for such flight dynamics, there are a few of things to keep in mind when flying this Draken model. Firstly, speed is life! This plane does not like to be flown slow and in and around departure and approach patterns, you need to keep the speed up for maneuvering. Below 250kias this plane will sink like a rock even in a standard rate bank/turn. Rule of thumb when on approach and final to land, your weights/fuel need to be within range for that part of the envelope and watch your speed and avoid steep banking. If you need to add power to dampen the sink rate, do it. Initial final speed seems to be around 210 down to 190-180 on short final at the proper AoA. Since the AoA is fairly high, you really won't flare on landing, just settle/planting it on the pavement! Regarding the general handling, keep the AoA within limits and you'll be okay. The audible warnings are plentiful to let you know when to ease off back pressure. Even then, you'll notice the Elevons seem to become ineffective. I'm no Draken expert but if I had to guess by judging the aerodynamics, the long air intake strakes probably disrupt airflow at higher AoA creating sort of a cavitation of air pressure over the Elevons causing them to become less or totally ineffective. Rule of thumb, pay close attention to the warnings and the feel of the stick/effectiveness and you'll stay out of trouble. Also, in afterburner, fuel consumption is excessive and you will end up Bingo fuel very quickly if you use it much! At all high altitudes, be very easy in ALL stick inputs! I did perform the Superstall maneuver. It's incredible but once that AoA is achieved and the stall max's out, you're along for the ride!

One last thing, the parachute effectiveness seemed a bit too much almost like a arresting wire grab. So I changed the settings which are in the aircraft config file under flaps. Find the entry called drag_scalar = 6.0 and change the numbers to: = 0.7. That should make the parachute deceleration a little more realistic.

Also, I am working on an afterburner update. I probably won't upload it to other sites, I may keep it in house here when it's ready before long. It's simple, a copy & paste to the smoke section of the config and the effect drop in. It sure looks better than the stock effect.
 
I can't get the throttle joystick to work.The only wat to set power is the the keybor or click and drag the throttlr in the VC.Any else had this problem?
 
Same problem in here with the throttle. Currently, i´m using shift+f4 to get it full AB power.

As the developer is done with the aircraft, i think it´s the way it is now .... :)
