...finally released - F-4 Phantom sound update!!!

Nigel,
I would like to offer a sound set for 'jets' that blew MY mind and perhaps will impress you when you use it with your F4. It's at FSCom. File name 'lf104snd.zip'. 3.7 mb, dated 1-25-2003 (had 6,000+ downloads). It was for Lockheed F-104 Starfighter, of course, but I use with my Harrier, etc. This sound is so well put together that it will grow on you. Loud (depends on throttle) but sweet.

No AB but I guess you could shoehorn it in (use 'non-combustible' section?). RCB would know how to install afterburner, keyed to 'O' key, or have a gauge to key off something else. All I know is that Erick Cantu really hit the nail on the head with this one. Here is link to FSCom download link, which might work (members only?). Cheers.

Nice HU Chuck, thanks, however, I may as well reveal the fact that I'm 80% finished on F-4 Phantom sounset (V2!!!), having aquired some very tasty extra sound material. So don't get too used to the present soundset!

The Phantom sounds were never intended as general sounds for jet aircraft, but rather reflect the needs of those pilots who demand authentic sounds for specific aircraft.
It therefore goes without saying that I will be tackling other particular jet powered subjects in time to come.
I have an outstanding list at present for Jaguar, Typhoon/Tempest (Napier Sabre), Avro Lancaster and an almost complete PW-2800 powered Canadair cl-215!

DANGIT, Nigel.... Just when I got done replacing all the broken windows and re-fitting all my F-4's with the current engine upgrades, you go and tell me that there will be newer engines to fit :medals:. Geezz... No rest for the wicked, I reckon. :mixedsmi:

Crikey, the cats were just starting to come out from under the bureaus...LOL!!

(Looking forward to the new version, mate!)

Gentlemen, by Thursday the previous F-4 sounds can be put away in some dark and gloomy closet! What I have been preparing over the past few weeks is a completely revised set from the cfg down to wavs.
Both previous versons were lacking at low/mid rpms and when we got up to rock n roll, there was just no bass guitar till afterburn.
THAT HAS BEEN RECTIFIED!!!

Finally, I have the F-4 in all its true glory. I promised Smoothie I'd pull out all stops on the F-4, and after many, many nerve racking hours (and a good few setbacks) we're finally there.
Now, when I'm sitting outside sipping my early morning coffee and Smoothie sends the F-4 boys from Larissa, I just sit back, enjoy the sound and think; yep, they've got the sound right!

BB686; Without saying too much, do you have reinforced walls?

Smoothie; were's my bally Aegean Ghost? (icon: f....ing angry Greek farmer:icon)

oh yeah that Aegean ghost paint i did..... forgot to release it erm..... whooops, will have to sort that kinda pronto-tonto won't i? :icon_lol::salute:

officially yes.... mentally...... well Greek mindset is on, :icon_lol:

will get ghost textures sorted soon for you all, darn it greek thinking..... will have textures sorted by tonight :salute:

No sweat little buddy (won't be able to D/L till Monday anyway...only got a few hours online and I'm searching for Trader/Tracker material like someone demented - no wise cracks cleverdick!) do it Greek!

Pity you couldn't make it up here, but you'll be by someday, just know it!

Last time we got our heads together, if I remember, I was moaning about not being happy about the Toom sounds. Well, my old frugle, I think this old rupert's finally managed to put it all together the way it should be! So it'll be up here soon.

Nothing but the best for a buddy.

Look forward to working with you on the Tracker/Trader SOH project! :salute:

likewise pal, reason i didn't get up there was i was out in the Aegean, on Kos :icon_lol:

looking forwards to hearing your final cut for the sounds :salute:

OK, done that!

Now where is version 2?
Or was it next Thursday, or the week after...? :)

You should know by now Nigel, not to put deadlines on your creations, just to avoid nagging blokes like me!

Anyway, good luck with Milton's new project! I shall be following it closely...

[/INDENT]

:salute: Thanks for the 'nagging' Stuart, the soudset is now complete.
Just have to write new installation procedures and package everything for UL.

You'll probably all be glad that this time, there will be separate sound cfg files for all three Virtavia packs. Thats the reason for delay on this one; so its tailor-made sounds for each instead of fiddling around with aircraft air and cfg files.

I'll make an announcement as soon as its up; 2-3 days.

Cheers,
Nigel
