Posted on the Freeman Field Recovery Team's facebook site, is a photo of a Finnish Buffaloe, with 42 1/2 kills credited to the airframe, spread among several pilots.
Goes to show, determination training and skill can get the best out a lot of hardware considered to be rubbish by others.

On that note, the Finnish have a remarkable, yet often unnoticed air combat history in World War II. They became quite adept at using "cast-off" models such as the Morane-Saulnier Ms-406, the early Hawker Hurricanes, the Curtiss P-36 Hawk, the Gloster Gladiator, and the Brewster Buffalo.

The Buffaloes that the Finns had were without the added dead weight that the US Navy carried on their models. Also, the Finns stripped everything they could remove to decrease weight and add maneuverability. The Finnish mechanics also fixed reliability problems with the Wright Cyclone engine by inverting one of the piston rings in each cylinder.
