Fire tankers

While on short final to land at Kenai Municipal airport early this afternoon, I found the plane below holding short. It did two runs while I had lunch. Seeing a tanker reminded me of Daveroo's posts. Maybe he can fill me in on the type of aircraft. All I know is that it was working the Card Street fire near Sterling, AK.

i do know,its a BAe-146..or an JR85...Neptune and another company operate them..they have been very effective on fires here near me so far.

In addition to the Canadian air tankers being assigned to Alaska, seven recently that we know of, there are three air tankers under contract with the U.S. Forest Service in the state, according to information we received from today from Jennifer Jones, a spokesperson for the agency:

1. T-160 Aero-Flite RJ85
2. T-10 Neptune BAe-146
3. T-101 Aero Air MD87

At least seven air tankers are being sent from Canada to Alaska to help with the wildfire situation developing in that state. Here are the aircraft that we are aware of that stopped at Whitehorse, Yukon, for fuel:

• Tanker 42, a Convair 580, from Slave Lake, Alberta, operated by Conair.
• Four CL-215Ts from Slave Lake, Alberta, with two Bird Dogs, operated by Conair.
• Two Convair 580s out of Williams Lake, B.C. passed through Whitehorse a couple of days ago on their way to Alaska.
