Wonderful skins on display in this thread. Have any been posted yet? I cannot find them in the FSX Skins folders.
The FCS Lanc is FSX only , you maybe confused with the AH FS2004/FS9 Lanc.Just installed this thing into FSX, boost gauges do not work at all. Avionics switch is on, fuel pumps on, master cocks open - still no boost. Is there a patch for this? I have the bird in FS9 and it works fine, wondering if the patch for FS9 works in FSX?

Thanks for that tip, but I had used the boost coil switch when starting the engines when this problem surfaced. The auto-installer did not put the gauge ".cab" file into the FSX gauges folder. Whether or not it's supposed to be in there - when I inserted it into the gauges folder, voila, I got working boost gauges. Only problem I have now is when starting engines in 1-2-3-4 sequence, 1, 3 and 4 start normally but for some reason 2 will not start unless 3 or 4 are started first. I had fuel boost pumps running before starting each engine. I couldn't find anything in instructions that stated there was a certain order in which to start the engines, unless I missed it. There is something else that is driving me batty. The sound in my FSX is highly directional. Sitting in this Lanc - or in the A2A B377, or any other multi-engine aircraft, looking straight ahead the cockpit is dead silent re: engine noise. The moment you turn your head you can hear them, however, and they are louder to the left or right depending on which way I am looking. Now, I realize when you face the source of a noise it will be louder than it would be if you had only one ear turned toward it - but this is ridiculous, no matter how well sound-insulated the cockpit is you should be able to hear 4 RR Merlins or 4 R3350s or 4360s talking to you, and talking fairly loudly. Flyby results in being barely able to hear the aircraft. Four big fans like that should be fairly shouting externally. For a long time I've been running this thing with 4GB of RAM, 8GB more are on the way and I'm wondering if the additional memory will have an effect on the sound quality. BTW every texture I've seen in this thread is excellent, I've been to flightsim and downloaded everything they have for this aircraft in FSX, looking forward to any others that come down the pike. The RCAF MR marks are particularly interesting to me, there is an MR Mark X on a pedestal in Jackson Park in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, with a bronze plaque before it listing Windsor-area RCAF crew lost in WWII. The memorial is surrounded by beautiful rose gardens, Windsor is known as the Rose City. Also - something rather unusual, my eyes must be playing tricks on me. When looking out the canopy to the inner sides of all four engines, I see anti-glare shrouds over the exhaust stubs - yet in the external views, the shrouds are nowhere to be found. This is at least the situation on the MR aircraft.
That is one thing said , changing sound packages , I think the same can be said for a texture package, your original non Squadron base for other to build on , I should do the same for the FCS Wellington , make for a great pairTo change the sound for another Merlin set is a very easy job. In fact I tend to change and/or mod most of the sound set of my FS aircraft to get what I want regarding the engine sound. The FCS Lancaster is what it is. From what I have seen and heard it looks like FCS stopped supporting the product for a long time ago, but it is the only FSX Lancaster around and it is quite good in my view. I just bought it and I found it a lot better than I anticipated...
Iiiirish Linen , , one thing I did find was the model had a major issue .. the ailerons are well over-sized but that was easy hidden, biggest thing I still recall people complaining about the base textures ... great thing with anything FS aircraft is hook into it and really do it justice, I seriously liked the FCS Welly even just the first plop in the seat .. ....... .. I do believe extra work could have been done much like the FCS Lancaster .. , the base is there so maybe one reading this .. Hi DanSS101..Ian.. I quickly started the Lancaster installer yesterday to check it DID offer both sims. Like you.. I have more models than sense (and money!!) and get to a point where FSX is too slow to load so I oik those I don't fly out. Over a period.. I end up with models I'd forgotten I have (out of sight, out of mind) so I know where you're coming from
The Wimpey certainly needs some help and a blank canvas (or should that be blank Irish linen?) set of maps might go a long way to increasing it's popularity once moreIncidentally.. I pulled the bumps out of it the other day to see if it got rid of some of the 'wooden effect' and while it most certainly did.. it also lost a lot of brightness so it obviously uses the bumps for that too (or alphas on the bumps). Pity the FCS model
Jens , The one thing I love with the Wellington it has the same admirable texture as the Lanc, very Sure Daniel Dunn did both, the Welly is old but I fell in love with it , the VC was so , well gives the feel of the early bomber, tho the VC dose have its missing parts , ailerons oversized on the external model ... but all and all gives you the feeling of the type. The Wellington looks quite nice as well. The VC looks good and the textures are of course possible to change if someone has the time to make new master textures. The Hamden has got its revival, is there any AW Whitley available (I have never seen it for FSX)?
